Indian Oven2006 4th Avenue West, Vancouver
The only place for real tandoori in west van
Submitted Monday, July 28, 2008 - 2:46pm [Dine in]

Being from west bengal, and growing up on indian food most of my life I'm always looking for a taste of home. I discovered the indian oven last year and have found my self routinely selecting it for take out, over other indian restraunts in vancouver. The Indian oven specializes mostly in north indian cuisine, which is quite common among Indian restaurants in north america. The indian ovens curry is something that I was less than impressed with. Given the time and preparation it takes to make curry fresh, it is quite difficult to prepare in a restraunt environment. However, the tandoori/tikk/kebab specialties of this restaurant are far above most of the other restaurants in west part of vancouver. Simply because they actually have a tandoor oven, which many of the other restraunts do not.
The texture and taste of tandoori depend directly on this oven.

If one is looking for a authentic indian dining experience, take heed of the name.
