Just wondering, does Whitespot actually look at these reviews? Or any place for that matter.
Anyway, this is a regular place for me and my friend (in a wheelchair) to go to on Fridays. She has been going for years, I have been joining her for the past two years. The Company is awesome, but the food and service is quite often a challenge.
Sandwhiches do not always come on "white bread" and Prawns are not always gloden brown and the order does not always arrive as ordered. We ask for gravy.....it does not come, we ask no coleslaw, it comes, we ask for prawna to be golden brown they come over fried, we ask for extra sauce...ummmm maybe....on a good day. Ha, try asking for the bill, it seems to be a very complicated task.
Love how the tables around us are not cleaned off. When it is good it is good, most times it is a challenge for us.
We pointed out severe food allergies to our waiter and we were specific. He was AMAZING in how handled the concerns!
This is the first eatery in NW that has actually understood severe allergy and not sluff it off!!! The service from beginning to end was excellent!!!
Thanks to our waiter, manager and kitchen staff, you made our evening wonderful!!!!
Came here once when it first opened. Didn't go back until yesterday.
All of a sudden it hit me, we didn't go back because a) the salad bar is tiny and not impressive at all. Mango pudding, unpeeled shrimp, bowl of lettuce, two salad dressings for your lettuce (salad), no other toppings for the lettuce, bean something salad, one more dish and cold soup (which is very good). So, 6 items total.
$25.00 + per person........price range is not between $10.00 & $20.00.
Anyway, since we live in New West, it is our conclusion that there are to many other eateries including Japanese that offer far better value. We will not be returning to Top Gun ever.
b) it is truly way over priced! $90.00 for three people. Had water and their tea as a beverage.
Our most recent visit to TGIF was a good one! Our waitress was very organized and could multi task efficently. Darn good at what she does. The soup and our meal was very good as well.
They do get very busy, probably due to their location in the mall.
We were a bit dissappointed that we could not use our TGIF gift card. It was purchased in the USA, not accepted here in Canada. We have been given other gift cards from the USA and have been able to use them in Canada.
Athough we have had aweful experiences at the HG, the service has always been great!
The food is over priced but good.
The owner, in our experience has not been pleasant to deal with. If you have severe food allergies, be very careful at the HG! Not only did I get severly ill and end up in ICU, we still had to pay for our meal and were never compensated in anyway. In fact we still had to pay for our meal and the appy that I got ill on.
The menu does now indicate an allergy alert which is a very good step.
Our staff party was held at the Keg. This would be my second visit in 2007. The food was good this visit but it is over priced. The service is friendly, not efficient both visits.
Service starts out great, seems once the order is taken you are put on stanbye for the remainder of the visit. Who knows, maybe the servers are given too many tables at one time, which by default, does not allow them to be as attentive.
When we were their in October the prime Rib was served cold.
Has decent wheelchair access but if one is visually impaired it can be difficult to read the menu or see your food.
Parking for this Keg is a challange due to new construction in the community.
Can't count the # of times I have at this place and left sitting for quite some time. Last time 4 of us went. We sat for a while with no service. I went to the corner store for a purchase, upon my return, still no service !!
The service is friendly, it is obvious that management eeps this place under staffed. We also noticed that while this waitress was run off her feet, being both waitress/bartender, the manager was sitting chatting with someone.
We waited until 3:00 to order 1/2 price appy's..when we got our bill we were charged full price. Too 20 minutes to get that resolved. There was a 2 minute time difference on the time stamped bill......oh brother....
In all the times I have been their, not once has anyone said "can I help you?"
We do like the food at at Boston Pizza and this location, well, it is what one would excpect from a chain. I simply have issues with the high pricing of Boston Pizza and at times the choice of music they have cranked far to loud.
Six of us had dinner here recently, (we have had dinner here a few times over the years). We all found it very nice that we could eat and visit without having to scream at each other over loud music! The food, as always was awesome! Coming from a German food, I have to say that in my opinion the food here is equally as good as the good old home German cooking I grew up with!
Service has always been great as is the decore! The only change I would like to see is the staff wearing authentic German outfits. This would greatly compliment the decore. The old standard white blouse/black pants just does not seem to work in this enviroment.
Where else can you go and get home made soup any sandwhich you desire for under $5? They have two soup choices every day. Burgers are awesome! Nummy stir fry! Great breakfast!
Simply go up to the counter, order your food for eat in or take out! You will be amazed at the quality of food and what you pay!
This place is not about decore, it's all about great food at an amazing price! You will not leave with out a full tummy!
This place has a nice Ambiance. Not a WOW, need to go back soon kinda place. They do make awesome roasted Potatoes! The food was really good, however, the service does not seem to compliment the food and ambiance. Not sure exactly what it is, something is missing. Feel more like they take your order, bring the bill and yeah whatever kind of attitude.
We have been here many times. We really like the food and a great selection of food! I, as a smoker, find the patio very nice! My husband as a non-smoker likes the patio as well. They have made an effort to isolate the patio from the outside! Have met interesting people at this pub.
Service has always been consistantly friendly! We are sticklers for good service.
Hon's has fab food and very good service! Ambiance is not the focus with Hon's rather the focus is all about the food and they are good at what they do! Since I eat their on a regular basis for both lunch and dinner and some days both I can't say I have ever had bad food. The price of their food is great. You can get a beer for well under the price of any other eating establishment in New West I find!
Having had many years in the food industry I tend to view experiences both as consumer/professional. Living in New West for 10 plus years we have visited the BoatHouse on numerous occasions. Thus, this review is based upon several visits. We have had both, great and poor food/service, seems we can't get great with both food/service. It's either one or the other. We have taken business clients/family/friends. If one compares prices the food is priced pretty good. Alchol and Non-Alcoholic beverages are over priced. On one occasion we did get a $50.00 Gift Certificate for what was a very negative experience in both food/service. All in all I hold Owners/Directors/Management/ responsible for the high prices of beverages and at times poor service/food. They also get credit for the positive visits we have had. Great service/food consistantly would have visiting more often!
