Big Daddy's Pizza1975 Powell Street, Vancouver
Good pizza loaded with toppings
Submitted Wednesday, April 8, 2015 - 6:44am [Take-out]

Having been by this place many times, I decided to give their pizza a try. I ordered a large carnivore deluxe which was loaded with pepperoni, salami, smoked farmers sausage, and smoked ham. The pizza cost just under $19 with tax included. The value is good as well as the flavour. The crust was thicker but a good taste and consistency. I ate two slices and I was full.

The service leaves much to be desired though. The owner? was training the two young girls working there while I waited an extra 10 min for my pizza. I could see it sitting on the rack having been through the oven, waiting to be sliced and boxed but the focus was not on the customer in any way.

I will most likely try them again as the pizza was quite tasty and they have many interesting kinds to order. I just hope the service improves. I hate seeing businesses that have a good product destined to fail due to lack of customer service focus. Time will tell.

I have to post a review even though the coffee is the same at all Starbucks, the service here shines through.

Dawn, Jamie, Lisa, and Val are always awesome making you feel personally welcomed each and ever visit!! Their personableness is second to none. I always feel good about my experience when I go in.

Good fresh pizza
Submitted Friday, December 26, 2014 - 6:57pm [Dine in]

Tonight (aaprox 4:30 pm Friday night) was our first time eating at San Remo and we ordered a large pizza for our family of three. We tried 1/2 mediteranian and 1/2 greek. The pizza was brought to our table in approx 25 minutes which was decent timing. The pizza was quite good with very fresh and plenitful toppings. We were all stuffed and had a slice for taking home left over.

My 14 year old son really liked it and commented that we will certainly return. It did start getting quite busy with the restaurant filling up as we ate, so go early or most likely expect a wait. The server was very pleasant and attentive throughout our evening. Will be back.

Great wings
Submitted Saturday, April 12, 2014 - 6:55pm [Dine in]

The Cat and Fiddle is known for it's wings and never disappoints. We go often on Mon and Wed nights for the 25 cent wing nights. We always end up ordering other food too and it is usually very good. They have many wing flavours with saucy or dry types.

Our Favorite Pho
Submitted Saturday, April 12, 2014 - 6:48pm [Dine in]

My wife, son and I eat here approx 3 times per month. They have very good Pho and we love the lemon grass chicken too. The owner comes out from the back from time to time and is very friendly. Don't hesistate to try this place. It does get quite busy at lunch, so we go around 11:15am and are usually the first or second people in there.

Good Fish and Chips & Deep Fried Pickles
Submitted Saturday, April 12, 2014 - 6:39pm [Dine in]

Tasty halibut and fries along with good cole slaw. The deep fried pickles are a great value and tasty. 12 spears of lightly battered pickles and ranch dip for $3.95. Can't beat that. We had the deep fried pickles at Wings Restaurant in Maple Ridge and this place was way better, 1/2 the price and twice the food. Give this place a try and you won't be dissappointed.

Good cheap food
Submitted Saturday, March 1, 2014 - 5:56pm [Dine in]

Very good Pho noodle soup, and chicken. The owner will remember you after a few times and is more friendly after that. Avoid this place from 11:45am-12:30pm Mon-Fri. They get the high school crowd in at that time and it gets crazy in there. My last time there, I waited for 35 minutes to get my Pho even though I was the second customer in the restaurant. It was the only time I waited even more than 10 min, but on this day the owner chose to get all of the high school students fed before making my order. Haven't returned since in principal, but I do miss the food.

Quaint little place with good portions of decent Pho. My family does have other Pho places that they prefer, but this one is close to our home and never disappoints. Owner takes a bit of warming up but once he gets to know you, he remembers your preferences. Give it a try for a nice meal.

Great service, good food, too pricey
Submitted Saturday, March 1, 2014 - 5:47pm [Dine in]

Our server was extremely good. She was always smiling, attentive, and made us feel welcome. The food was pretty good, but so expensive. For one burger, a chicken sandwich, pulled pork poutine, one pop, and 9oz glass of white wine our bill was $65 including tip. Ouch!!! We could go to the Keg for that price. For that reason alone, we will not be returning.

Awesome juicy burgers
Submitted Saturday, March 1, 2014 - 5:40pm [Dine in]

One of my absolute favorite burger joints to frequent. A little burger is single patty and regular burger is double patty - can get cheese and bacon too. Choose from the array of fresh topping FREE.....including fried onions, sauteed mushrooms, bbq sauce, hot sauce, jalapenos, etc.

A regular fry is enough to feed 2-3 hungry people. I highly recommend the cajun fries too. A bit of spice to them and so so good.

Do your self a favour and try this place. Kudos to the filipino guy employee who is always super friendly and typically walks around to make sure everything is satisfactory.

My family has eaten here at least 40 times since they opened this location a year or so ago. I have only had one issue where my bun was really hard on one area (not sure if stale or from heat that it dried) and it appeared that it was picked at by someone to try to remove the dry area. I was quite disappointed but didn't bother bringing it back up as I am sure they would have made me a fresh one asap.

Good......but not as good as the Poco location
Submitted Saturday, March 1, 2014 - 5:31pm [Take-out]

The best humous ever!! I love their chicken rice platter with double humous and no greek salad. Glad they added the sriracha chli sauce instead of the bland tomato "hot sauce" the always have.

The service at any of theses places has never been that great, but the new younger late teens girl that now works there some times of very pleasant and nice.

If I had a choice, I would certainly go to the Poco location as the same order is cheaper and a bit better.

Great big juicy burgers with great selection of toppings!! I really like the Five Guys burger a lot too but it is like comparing apples to oranges. Been back twice in 3 days!! Even their chicken burger is big and tasty (hate a bite of my wife's burger) This is my 13 yr old son's favorite burger now.

Wing were very dry
Submitted Thursday, October 31, 2013 - 7:16am [Dine in]

I am a wing lover and was sadly disappointed by the dry wings we had at this place. We ordered 3 different flavours and even the 4 rating of heat was mild at best. Even my son ate some of the 4 hot without a problem. The fried dill pickles were good and my wife's chicken burger/sandwich was very tasty.

The server was a young guy who was very enthusiastic and attentive. I just wish the food was as good as the service. We will not be back unfortunately. We hope to eat locally but will go to the Cat and Fiddle in Port Coquitlam for our wing cravings for now on.

Chicken shwarma
Submitted Sunday, January 15, 2012 - 5:50pm [Dine in]

Great garlic hummous and chicken rice plate. Filling too. I crave this regularly. I find he plate better than the simple donair. The hot sauce is not hot in any way....more like tomato sauce.

They ask if you want cheese (crushed feta) on your food, it costs extra FYI.

The staff are grumpy and seem to be bothered that you are there ordering, but I think it is just them. I commented that I love the food and got a smile and short convo from the donair nazi one time.

Great food!! Follow the sauce menu for the best flavours. I recommend the curry combination. It has improved over the past while for cleanliness as mentioned in previous posts. Try this place and you won't be dissappointed.

Tip - go before 4pm for dinner as the price is higher after that. Lunch is the same $$ as before 4pm. One bowl filled is more than enough for a big eater, all you can eat is not needed.

Pretty good patties
Submitted Saturday, December 3, 2011 - 5:30pm [Dine in]

Decided to try this shop since my son loves jamaican beef patties. I ordered the bulk frozen bags so he can cook them in our own oven at home. Ordered the hot beef, curry chicken and a pizza. I have had better tasting patties/crust but price wise a good value.

Submitted Saturday, December 3, 2011 - 3:18pm [Take-out]

My wife, son and I bought 2 of his massive sandwiches today. He asked what type of bread, if we wanted hot sauce/mustard/mayo, then the slicing started.......meat after mat, then cheese, lettuce and joking with my son. We all enjoyed our 1/2 sandwich and will all go back again!!! Very neat place and guy.

My family's favorite Indian Restaurant. We always order the butter chicken, saag aloo, chicken pakoras (best I've had), aloo tikka (tasty thin potatoes), rice and naan.

Do yourself a favor and try this gem. Not the cheapest eats, but very tasty!!! Take out gets more quantity than eat in too.

Horrible food
Submitted Sunday, May 29, 2011 - 6:35pm [Take-out]

I ordered $50 worth of butter chicken, saag, chicken pakoras and aloo tikka to take out for my husband's birthday. The food was horrible and after eating a bit of it, we all threw it in the garbage. It tasted like the food was pre made and sitting around for a long time prior to picking it up. The chicken pieces in the butter chicken and pakoras was very dry and old tasting. The aloo tikka was extremely salty and my husband spit it out. We order Indian food regularly and can make better food at home.

I called and let the restaurant know that the food was not good and she said sorry and that was it.....couldn't care less. What a disappointment for a birthday dinner and waste of $50.

The naan was good however if that is any consolation.

Avoid this place at all cost.
