Fuji Sushi3017 St. Johns St, Port Moody
Expected More

Back in our dating days, my wife and I frequented the former Fuji Sushi location along North Road, that has recently been displaced due to the Evergreen line. We have a lot of fond memories of that place and recall it being very busy with a long line of take-out customers most nights. One of the nicest thing about that restaurant was that it was run by authentic japanese that adhered to very traditional values.

We were surprised and excited to see Fuji Sushi re-open in Port Moody and soon thereafter went to try it out. The decor was an a big improvement over the former chinese restaurant that was there, although the seats/booths appeared to be the same, and were in need of repair/replacement. I am hoping that they are still in the process of overhauling the restaurant. The food, while comparatively cheap relative to nearby sushi restaurants, was not presented very well, being similar to a Sushitown or other, 'bare-bones' type establishment. The food was 'blah' - not good, not bad. We expected more given our joint recollection of Fuji sushi and hope its just the 'growing pains' of the new restaurant.

Best Thai In My Experience!

Our family has travelled to Thailand and we've known the owner since she first opened the restaurant and offered cooking classes. We noted that she ordered a lot of the spices directly from Thailand. Since moving, we've tried to find another restaurant that matches the richness of the flavors that are offered at Go Thai. We have not been successful in our search, despite numerous trials at other restaurants. A particular favorite of ours is the Masaman Curry. Although the decor is fairly simplistic and there is no glitz or glamour, if the primary purpose of going is to savor some truely authentic thai dishes, then you won't be disappointed!

EXPENSIVE for young kids - and
Submitted Sunday, February 20, 2011 - 9:15pm [Dine in]

When we went the last time, my son (3 years old) was not charged for his meal. This time, my son (still only 3 years old) was charged for his meal despite our protests and even showing the owner his Care Card to verify his age. When we got home, we checked the online ordering pages, which says that kids under 4 eat free. Thus, we were improperly charged $10.98 for our 3 year old son, who ate only one bowlful of food. Thus, be careful if you have young children as you may be improperly charged so the owner can make a few extra bucks.
