A bunch of my friends and myself tried this place out for Dine Out Vancouver. I had the caramalized egg tart (sort of a quiche??) the salmon and then a piece of cake from the dessert buffet. Considering that we were a group of nine people I must say that the service was pretty good. All of our food came at the same time (for every course) so no one was left plateless while we ate through the three course menu. The food was not amazing but it was good. I really enjoyed the Salmon (I always enjoy salmon) I probably would not eat here outside of Dine Out as you could not have an appy and entree for 28.00 outside of the Dine Out menu (and that comes with dessert). If I did come here again, it would be to see if they'd let me skip the entree and just eat at the dessert buffet. I was, unfortunately, too full to really take advantage of the buffet but everything there looked fresh and the piece that I had was good.
I've been to Starbucks a few times and I'd say that more often than not the place smells like burned coffee and, not really surprising considering that it smells like it, my coffe tastes burned. I find it kind of miffing that you pay four dollars for a cup of coffee just to find it's burned. There are so many coffee shops and little cafes in vancouver that you can definitely find a better cup of coffee elsewhere. Also, their baked goods are usually bland and dry, I do like the fruit/granola/yogurt cups but again you can probably find a tastier snack in one of the other cafes in this city.
I am a food enthusiast (or a foody, as my friends call me), especially when desserts are involved. I love this place. A great spot to get a scrumptious treat and a coffee or other beverage with friends. The only bakery that I have found where the food tastes like (or surpasses) my grandma's baking. So good.
The food at Anton's was a bit disappointing after all the hype I had from my friends. Maybe it was just the one dish as I've only been there once. I like my pasta to have flavour but my dish had too much flavour. My pasta was so strongly flavoured that I almost couldn't eat it after a couple of bites. Maybe someone spilled the dill jar into my serving? I don't know what happened but it was strong. The serving was crazy huge but they do not allow sharing so be prepared to bring home left overs. I would probably go again and try a different dish as my friends keep insisting that it is a great eatery.
I went to Sophie's Cosmic Cafe for breakfast the other day and had french toast. It was perfection! Nice fluffy slices of tasty french toasty goodness served with a bowl of beautifully arranged fresh fruit (some of which was tropical which you never get in a fruite bowl). The service wasn't amazing but I've definitely had worse. I would defnitely return to this establishment.
The sushi at this place is delicious and HUGE. They have a variety of platters to choose from and a great selection on their menu. I always order for pick up as the restaurant is tiny and usually pretty full. I don't ever eat in but the service on the phone and when I pick up my order is always polite and the sushi is always ready on time, there are never any mistakes with my order. The restaurant may be small and the decor is not great but it is clean. I personally prefer clean to stylish. I definitely recommmend this place for people who have a big appetite for sushi. Watch out, the rolls are gigantic.
I've been a Ricky's patron for years and have never been disatisfied with the food, service or value of this restaurant chain. I've been to a few different locations and they are all great. The look of the restaurant could be better but I won't complain as the rest is so good. They have the best breakfasts (yes, they beat IHOP) and are affordable. Also, their lunch and dinner menus have options for everyone. All of which are tasty.
We went to wings for supper the other night and it was so loud in the restaurant that our group of nonsmokers opted to sit on the patio. We must allow for the fact that the Olympic mens hockey game (Canada VS Sweden) was on the television and there were more than a few people wearing team garb. so, aside from the fact that it was so loud inside that we couldn't here each other talking I'd say that wings was a pretty solid restaurant. I ordered a chicken burger and the chicken was a little dry but the flavour of the burger was great. The fries were wonderful and I sampled my friends entrees as well, everything tasted pretty good. Nothing to be amazed by though. The servers were attentive although we had to wait quite a while to pay our bills. A nice relaxed place to go with a group of friends.
This restaurant has a great menu, generally great service and the food is always tasty. Unfortunately, the food is also always expensive. I realize that the whole point of a business is to make a profit...but is that much of a profit necessary. My sister ordered ravioli there the other night, she was splurging a bit as it was 18.00. Turns out she was splurging a lot as the dish was literally 8 ravioli layed out in a nice pattern on the plate. The flavour was great but she left the restaurant hungry even though her meal cost 18.00. That's not right. Expensive ingredients, whatever, people should not spend that much and leave a restaurant to go home and have toast. I have no complaint against this restaurant besides the cost. The food is good but be prepared to pay.
You can definitely get better sushi elsewhere but I am always very happy with the service here. It's slmost annoying how often the check on you. I say almost because I'm used to being ignored at sushi places so I'm not going to complain if they are a bit overzealous here. I also love the look of the inside of the restaurant and the location is great, really easy to get to from transit (something that is important to me as a I don't drive) They have a great selection of food and the menu is not confusing as it is in many other sushi restaurants. Over all, a good place to go for sushi with friends.
I go to this restaurant quite often with a group of friends. They have the best pub food specifically the best nachos! and their prices are great. The servers are very nice and the food always arrives just as we ordered it. A great place for a birthday or sports night with a group of people all of the appetizers are a great portion size for sharing even between three people. You should try this place out.
I've heard from my friends that 'know sushi places' that this restaurant is terrible. But I've been there quite a few times and have never had a negative experience. In fact, having been to quite a few sushi places myself I can safely say that this place has some of the best service. Keep in mind though that sushi places aren't known for good service so to be more specific: I have never been ignored, my tea cup is never empty, the food is good and the place is always busy when I go but they still manage to get you your food in a timely fashion. Also, the prices aren't too crazy. I've been many times and would definitely go again.
We went to Kelsey's because we saw an add for free chicken wings. Apparently so did everyone else in richmond. They were really really busy so maybe that explains our poor treatment and the fact that our food was obviously suddenly remembered five seconds before it was delivered. We were ushered in by a really friendly employee and our server was nice enough, they all had very cheerful attitudes. But that does not change the fact that the nachos we ordered did not come with anything on them. It was basically a warm stack of bare nacho chips. Kind of a shock after reading the list of ingredients on the menu. The chicken wings were alright but did not come with napkins. Napkins are a necessity when eating chicken wings so we thought to ask for some, well after being totally ignored for about twenty minutes one of us got up and asked the first staff member they saw for some napkins, this happened to be the one of the managers who then gave us six napkins and wandered off mumbling something about being sorry about that. Altogether not the best restaurant experience I've ever had.
I eat at the taverna probably about once a month or so. At the door you're greeted with a big smile. The staff are always friendly and joking with the regulars and family members that come to eat there. Whoever is in charge of the kitchen knows what they're doing, The food is always amazing. I definitely suggest this restaurant for people who like a good helping of greek food. There's always enough left for lunch the next day, you certainly get your moneys worth.
I love this restaurant. I live nearby and eat here quite often (probably more often then I should ^_^) The food is always great and there is usually enough leftover for lunch the next day. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and amount of food you get and the staff are always friendly. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who really enjoys food. If it's your first time trying the cuisine, there's a choice of mild, medium, or hot. If you make it at home all the time, give yourself a break and try the Tandoori Kona.
