reservation meaningless
Submitted Sunday, September 6, 2009 - 9:52am [Dine in]

Made a reservation for 8pm, and were seated at 8:40pm.

When we arrived at 7:55 the hostess said it would be 5-10 minutes, and it especially bothers me because there is no way she could have believed what she was saying to us to be even remotely true. I'd rather she admit their overbooking, and say its going to be a long time and simply apologize and then we could have the option to go somewhere else rather than wait hoping to be seated in a reasonable time.

If we had received even the tiniest indication from either the hostess or the waiter of a genuine apology - some evidence of comprehension of how outrageous it is to make a customer wait 40 minutes for a reservation - then I would not be writing this.

The hostess acted in the most plastic, disingenuous way you can imagine, completely lacking concern. The waiter seemed irritated that we would even complain.

I sense they are far too busy to care about customers such as my party at any rate. We will never return.

As good as it gets

I live three blocks from here, and that's not a good thing. Been many, many...many times. natural flavour, silky texture - this is it. The pistachio is easily the best version of that flavour I've ever had - try it and compare with what you often get elsewhere (flavourless gelato studded with soft, gummy pistachio nuts that taste like they've been cured in something medicinal). other favourites include the orange chocolate and a really nice mint (its called after eight but its straight-up mint), and my wife loves the grapefruit and papaya sorbets (the papaya is, sadly, a rare offering - try it if its there). after reading the other reviews it looks like black sesame needs a try. never took anyone there who didn't like it.

in a large amount of visits, had only one disappointment - had an off batch of the normally spectacular dark chocolate (if you order it ask to taste it first - the one batch tasted like it was seriously lacking sugar, this coming from a fan of bitter chocolate).
