Oh Please!

Don't waste your time or money here! Not a single vegeterian dish on the menu and on a special occasion they couldn't even grant the wishes of the birthday girl! All she wanted was a chicken breast on a salad and they couldn't do it. The server was very good and was our highlight of the evening but to disappoint a lady on her B-day is in excusable! We will NEVER go back! The manger didn't even offer anything except an apology for the ruin of the evening!

Good Food!

The price is right and the food is good! We love the chicken dishes which aren't at all greasy which seems to be a big problem in this type of cuisine. I love the fact that this place hasn't got a fancy thing about it yet still has some of the best food around. Order anything and leave happy! Isn't that what it's all about?

My New Favorite!
Submitted Monday, December 15, 2008 - 1:46pm [Dine in]

I've been making my rounds here and I've got to add the Gem of Port Moody to my run. I was in the Neighborhood on Friday night with a friend and saw that S had reopened and renovations were complete. I was normally seated in the Restaurant side by the Fireplace but I was out of luck as that seat was not available. Actually there was no seat available in the dining room at all and I was lead into the lounge which I was a bit questionable about since I prefer to be waited on in the dining room by the servers.

First let me say that the food at this place is under-rated as is the efforts of the owners to rejuvenate it. They have some great cocktails and the prime rib is succulent! Our dining experience on Friday was interesting! I had the Boullibaisse and my friend had the Prime Rib on my suggestion which came to our tiny table looking as good as it tasted. We were served by one of the two Bartenders who was juggling mixing drinks with serving us and I was quite impressed with the multitask ability that was demonstrated. As busy as it was the pair behind the bar managed to get our food to us with great Cosmos to boot! My Gf had a Dessert Cocktail that she was raving over and wouldn't share so I ordered one too......Amazing!

I like the whole menu here really but pass on the orzo! The mashed potatoes are great but there needs to be more of them! Baked potatoes come with all the topping you can think of. I like all of the options when you order the Prime Rib! You can add Sauces, Mushrooms, Spices etc and if you wanted could ordered a different variation of beef Every night. Gotta love that!

The wine Selection is good! If you a fan of Pinot Grigio then try the Casa Viniccola Bennati which I order even with red meat. I love the dessert menu which has an incredible Wild Berry Crumble baked to order! I will go back to say Hi again very soon! I just wish I could remember the name of that Martini!

I was served by the manager/head waiter personally and felt like royalty! A very upbeat and positive individual he is! I enjoyed the appetizers and the main course was awesome, the waiter kept coming to check on me. He was doing this throughout my visit and I can honestly say that if there is a more attentive staff anywhere I'd wouldn't go there! The food was fabulous as was the wine! I'll be back when I want to be an attention hog! Nice Decor!

Where'd the Good Servers Go?
Submitted Monday, December 15, 2008 - 12:44pm [Dine in]

I've come to dine at Horizons a few times last year and though it's been awhile I was hoping to find my favorite Waiter still working there. Sad to say that he was no longer on staff and my second choice was also gone. I reluctantly stayed and was served by an inexperienced young guy who didn't know a thing about the wine he was offering. I ordered my tried and true favorites of Lamb and had a Jackson Triggs Shiraz to confuse the lad who remained dilligent with his Gerwertzaminer. Mission Accomplished!

As always the view is beautiful and the prices which at one time were justified by the service are now too high. If you're looking for Knowledgeable service I'd go further down into Vancouver or Port Moody where you can find servers that have been allowed to drink for a few years to develop a palette! How much can a Twenty Year old really know about wine? I'll go back just for the view!

Great Italian Fare!

I love this place! The service is excellent and the food is delicious! I like the innovative cocktails that they have on their menu along with the sumptuous desserts they offer. All in all I think that the overall dining experience is consistant with the genre of the restaurant and I will go back whenever my mood calls for a nice marinara!

Awful!
Submitted Monday, December 15, 2008 - 11:57am [Dine in]

I'm normally not one to complain as well but I saw the review below mine and thought I'd add my two cents. The crust of the pizza I received was tough and chewy not to mention the fact that it was uncooked in the very center. My wife has a very bad allergy to onion and this was expressed to them yet our pizza arrived with onions which had been put on it "By mistake". I won't go back!
