Incredible Lamb, Salmon; super fast dinner service
Submitted Sunday, July 20, 2008 - 11:50pm [Dine in]

After reading a fabulous review in the T-C, I went with my mom to dinner on Saturday night about 6:30pm. It was somewhat quiet in the main restaurant, about 10 tables, but the patio looked more full.

First off, the service was very fast - after we ordered, the waitress brought warm bread. We had barely broken into it, and the appetizer - escargot came. They were wonderful, and HUGE - much bigger than I have eaten in the past, and it was served with some toasted bread that was soft in the middle. She barely had cleared the appetizer when our meals came.

My mom had the special salmon with grilled shrimp, the salmon came also skewered (a bit of a surprise), but very nicely cooked - smooth and tender ($18.95). I ordered the lamb (George's special) from the menu ($15.95) and it was wonderful - the meat just fell off the bone and it was so tender and smooth. My meal came with roast potatoes and greek salad. My mom's came with rice pilaf and steamed vegetables.

For dessert we had the creme caramel - it came served cold with caramel sauce on top. Sweet and light - Not the usual creme caramel, but it was tasty and a nice ending to the meal.

I'm surprised by the negative comments previously posted. I think Greek is expensive and Victoria, but that shouldn't deter you, if the meal is worthwhile. I think my lamb was worth the price. Parking is tight - about 4 spots on the front, 6 on the side, but plent of street parking nearby. Definitely a family restaurant - not enough atmosphere to be romantic for two.

Horrible Service > 1 hour wait for food
Submitted Thursday, July 10, 2008 - 3:34pm [Dine in]

Went for a group lunch with 15 people, and waited almost 1.5 hours for lunch to arrive. Only 1 pasta, most were burgers, salads, and chicken strips.

When asked, the waitress told us that good food takes a long time to prepare and that their menu warns people they could wait an hour for food because the kitchen services the whole restaurant and pub. Sorry, but none of that food takes that long to prepare. The restaurant side was almost empty, just another large group when we arrived. On the pub side, 3 or 4 tables of 2-4 people. 3 of our people sat at a higher table in the pub, and received their order after 15 mins; apparently the waitress told them she would squeeze their order in ahead of ours.

Our organizer had called ahead to reserve a table, and ask about pre-ordering, and was told the pub only needed 15mins warning. We arrived at 11:50am, ordered and didn’t see our order arrive until 1:15pm. Definitely not a good place to go for lunch with a group. When the food did arrive, no one came by to apologize, yet the bills were all ready and printed. Thankfully, they didn’t add the gratuity. Most of us didn’t leave any.

The food was tasty; too bad our experience with the poor service overshadowed the experience. Too add insult to injury, they charged me $5 to add a chicken breast to a salad, and brought me a different soup than what I ordered.
