Roland's Creekside Pub2129 Lake Placid Road, Whistler
Nope!
Submitted Thursday, November 12, 2015 - 8:21pm [Dine in]

We went to Roland's Creekside Pub every day for three consecutive days in October.
Two out of three days Stinky, the bartender, was tending bar. He spent more time catering to his regular customers than anybody that was just visiting this small pub.
Many attempts had to be made to get another round to our table but he was just too busy adjusting his visor cap on his bald head to do the deed.
The food was tasty and adequate in portion just don't depend on the service.

First The Good News...
Submitted Saturday, August 1, 2015 - 7:30am [Dine in]

The good news is that the food at Lou's Grill is good, comes hot to the table and in generous portions.
The bad news is that the headbanging music made conversation at a table for two near impossible. Mind you the tables were so close we couldn't even hear our neighbours conversation!
The second piece of bad news was that if you shut your eyes and suddenly opened them looking at the 'pass' or bar you thought you had been transformed to a peeler bar.
The fourteen scantily clad servers wore tiny bootie shorts, push up bra style tops and tank tops all which exposed far too much leg, midriff and cleavage. The 'dress code' needs to be dialed back to an acceptable level.

Water Street Cafe300 Water St, Vancouver
Not Worth It!
Submitted Monday, July 20, 2015 - 5:05pm [Dine in]

We took some people from Ireland for lunch to the Water St. Cafe this past Friday. What a mistake.
The service was non-existent even if the server used his French accent to suggest we were 'fine dining'.
The caesar salad for two was wilted iceberg (why not romaine) lettuce with splashes of brown. The croutons so hard as to loosen your fillings. Our four meals were something that anyone could replicate with less than fresh ingredients in any kitchen. How do they charge $24 for three tiny pieces of veal scallopini with two small potatoes and a slice of bell pepper?
The server was slow in taking the hint our meal was over. At a cost of $150 (small tip included) for four people I think there are many other places in Gastown to dine where the service and food is better!

Howe Sound Brew Pub37801 Cleveland Avenue, Squamish
Murky, soggy and fatty!
Submitted Friday, June 12, 2015 - 7:00am [Dine in]

We arrived at the Howe Sound Brew Pub around 6pm on a Wednesday to find the Pub fairly busy which we took for a good sign.
Our server was somewhat slow and unable to articulate their selection of beer so that we could make a selection equal to our preference. The murky lager that eventually arrived was no where near what we expected.
I ordered the bbq beef brisket sandwich. The bride ordered a pulled pork sandwich. My brisket sandwich was so heavily laden with 1" wide strips of uncooked fat it was disgusting. The bride's pulled pork sandwich was nothing but a soggy mess. The fries however for both meals were done nicely.
There are better places to dine in Squamish and this one you should take a pass on.

A Classic!
Submitted Wednesday, June 3, 2015 - 10:34pm [Dine in]

If you are looking for a diner for breakfast or lunch with the character of decades past stop in at the Matsqui Cafe.
It has not been updated in years but plenty of seating in booths or large tables in a super clean environment.
Breakfast reminded me of Mom with buttery, light pancakes and French toast with sides of crisp bacon and chunky sausages.
Weekends can get busy but through the week there is always room for you!

Mission Springs Brewing Company7160 Oliver Street, Mission
Not Good!
Submitted Tuesday, May 19, 2015 - 3:31pm [Dine in]

We went to the Mission Springs Brewing Company (Pub) yesterday. Being the May long weekend Holiday we were surprised by the lack of patrons.
Once again, as with previous visits; the waitress, the service and the quality of food was disappointing. In fact, we did not even eat the food they provided as it was under cooked, soggy with no apologies offered even when the server agreed with our complaint.
This pub is now on our 'Never Go To Again' list.

Tomahawk Restaurant1550 Phillip Ave, North Vancouver
Oldie but Goodie!
Submitted Thursday, April 23, 2015 - 10:25pm [Dine in]

We have wanted to dine at the Tomahawk Restaurant for years. After a trip to the Capilano Suspension Bridge, Cliffwalk and Treetops Adventure it was time for lunch.
The Restaurant was not crowded considering it was just before noon. Our booth was tight but cozy and the waitress attentive to our every need. The First Nations artifacts and other antiques made for interesting discussion.
I ordered the lunch special of the Hot Meatloaf Sandwich and my bride ordered the Beef Dip Sandwich. Both came piping hot with an ample portion of large cut fries.
For the money one of the best lunch experiences we have had in years in Metro Vancouver.

Consistent!
Submitted Saturday, March 21, 2015 - 6:54am [Dine in]

We have tried all the sushi restaurants in Mission now.
Without a doubt Sushi Te Japanese Restaurant is consistently the best of the bunch!
All their rolls are made with only the freshest ingredients. Albeit some of the slices from some of the rolls are rather large for one mouthful!
The young servers are always pleasant!
A word of caution for take-out orders is that it can get busy and lineups are not uncommon.

Sisto's Pub34555 Vosburgh Ave, Mission
Mediocre at best!
Submitted Friday, March 20, 2015 - 10:49pm [Dine in]

I have stopped in at Sisto's Pub a number of times. I am always amazed at how long it take that same old tired and unhappy server to make it to my table. She never has a smile on her face or offers a greeting.
Any thirsty customer would be better off finding two better pubs just west of their location.

What happened?
Submitted Friday, March 20, 2015 - 10:29pm [Dine in]

This place used to have decent Chinese food judged by our Western palates. Not any more.
There are places that are worse than this in Mission for Chinese food but that's not saying much.
Best take the time to head into Abbotsford or Maple Ridge to find this style of cuisine.

Yow!
Submitted Friday, March 20, 2015 - 7:24pm [Dine in]

Had lunch there today. The place was not busy and after having our meal knew why.
The beef dip sandwich was disgusting. The meat was like 'chipped' beef (yes, do a Google) on half a hotdog bun. Without the dipping jus it wouldn't have been able to be swallowed.
Take a pass on this place for any meal.
