Pleasantville-like, I Suppose
Submitted Sunday, May 4, 2008 - 5:29pm [Dine in]

FOOD: Attractive to the eyes and mouth. One of the chains that visibly tries to pursue flavour, I think. (On a side note, I heard Cactus partnered with famed Chef Feenie recently? Odd to hear! I wonder what is in store for us!)

SERVICE: Nothing near engaging as I know their training should have produced. I've had much better experience from other locations of these types of casual dining chains and I have to say have experienced more uplifting service from many coffee shops including Waves, Starbucks, or even Tim Horton's.

AMBIANCE: Pleasantville-like but quirky! Definitely thoughtfulness on the designers' parts.

You Can't Eat Interior Decor!
Submitted Sunday, May 4, 2008 - 5:14pm [Dine in]

FOOD: All the dishes ordered at our dinner table came either overdressed or over-greased. Very unfortunate!

SERVICE: Staff does not seem to pick up on obvious cues to guests' needs. Server was a little overbearing and described some food items in a way that detracted sales (against the restaurant's interest). Our table kept quiet though even on the very oily food issues. We don't like to make a fuss and still tipped 20% out of politeness to the server who was overbearing but noticeably tried.

AMBIANCE: Would be the only reason to return but everything else just discourages returning! The interior decor is quite well-done. Certainly not the best at all but the novelty or newness of it helped.

Must the service counteract the view?!
Submitted Saturday, December 22, 2007 - 6:52pm [Dine in]

FOOD: Tomato basil capellini, "crisp" calamari, and classic burger did the jobs of filling empty dinner-time stomachs but nothing more... "Decent," however - Milestone's usually being consistent in this regard.

SERVICE: Really a little bit too pushy. Obvious sells are so painful to see! Some need to learn to better introduce dishes and pairings. I would've liked so much to give points even for simple courtesy but that was barely displayed, unfortunately. Perhaps an off day of the server?

AMBIANCE: The restaurant itself may be due for a reno soon but is still looking quite maintained. The view overlooking English Bay, of course, is beautiful.

Fill me up!
Submitted Thursday, August 2, 2007 - 4:51pm [Dine in]

No line-ups at lunch; line-ups nearing dinnertime. This is a great place to fill up as the portions are generous. I always order the spanakopita as it gets me in a Greek-eating mood! The servers seem to be trying their best to work with what they've got there - it becomes up to coincidence whether or not better seats are available to be given to you, &c. Some servers are more friendly than others.

Very accommodating & pleasant staff for AYCE sushi
Submitted Wednesday, May 30, 2007 - 2:57pm [Dine in]

FOOD was generally tasty and quantities ordered were actually honoured (unlike Tomokazu) for AYCE. What stood out the most was that although there were vegetarian items available for order, upon hearing that there was a vegetarian at the table (me), the wait staff arranged for the chef to send out special unique items for my sampling pleasure :) Maybe such service enhances flavour but I really enjoyed these pieces as they were seasoned and crafted very nicely :)

SERVICE was wonderful as the staff was accommodating and pleasant and as mentioned before, very attentive to my friend's casual offhand mention that I was a vegetarian.

AMBIANCE was decent, more brightly lit even during late-night. Casual.

4 - Outstanding :D

FOOD was the most unique and interestingly-flavoured I have had in these types of restaurants (tapas, &c.) Obviously do not come here to fill up your stomach but your senses will be sated happily!

SERVICE was very friendly.

AMBIANCE was fabulous! Props to whoever is responsible for keeping the hundreds of little candles there lit. Haha :] They have private dining areas that are fabrically partitioned off from one another and very lush. However, the whole restaurant is beautiful and the servers were very inviting to guests to come see the rounds of the restaurant with them.

Great experience---Bring those you want impressed by Vancouver here :D

Here to confirm all the negatives :(
Submitted Wednesday, May 30, 2007 - 11:25am [Dine in]

On a last-minute whim, a group of friends and I ended up in this place because they were open late.

FOOD was only decent. Nothing much to say about it because it was pretty much run-of-the-mill.

SERVICE, however, can have more said about it: It was really really really bad. "Service" consisted of random servers plopping down plates of food at our table (which at many times weren't right in quantity anyway) and when asked about an order that never came, they responded with, "Maybe you already ate that one!" WTFASDFJKL? No noodle bowls of any type ever appeared on our table and the item in question was udon. Tipped obligatory 10% in the end just because it's customary.

They are open late nights though. But I'm sure it's worth your time to find another place.

Even the walls keep you entertained...
Submitted Friday, April 27, 2007 - 12:03am [Dine in]

I was finding it hard to add anything to the conversation happening at our table (as it was doing fine without me XD !) but even the walls will keep you entertained. The signs and general decor are quirky/ kitsch/ random :)

It's easier to be with a smaller crowd at this venue unless you have a naturally loud voice because the place is usually packed! The most recent time I was there, I think something must've happened re: fire hazard checks because they kept more watch on keeping the aisles a little more clear.

Very fun place to be with close friends :)
