Far Improved
Submitted Wednesday, March 11, 2009 - 1:55am [Dine in]

Last week I ventured back to Cucumber Cafe for the first time in over a year (I think it had just opened when we first tried it). WOW! Much improved since my last visit. The staff was all very friendly and seemed to work together well. The hostess was very friendly and talkative, as was young gentleman who was supervising. He stopped to ensure our table was happy with the meals and service which you don't see very often anymore, and then went on to tell us about the new gym being opened by Steve Nash next store this summer.

Our server Jenny was friendly, quick, and kept us laughing. The food came out in 10 minutes which was pretty nice since they seemed busy, and I would highly recommend both the Steak Salad and the Salmon Salad as we tried both. Both were very fresh with unique dressings and fair portions.

The only negative this restaurant has it the layout. Even though the food and service is good, you never get fully comfortable because the booths are packed in so close and the room echos in a way that you can't help but notice every conversation around you. I guess this is a good problem since the last time we visited the restaurant we were one of three tables in it, this time it was over half full. They are doing something right for sure.

Great stop before a movie
Submitted Wednesday, March 11, 2009 - 1:38am [Dine in]

I went in tonight before catching a movie, and this place has never let me down yet. It isn't meant to be any fancy night out, but a very classy brewery that has an excellent selection of house brews, a good atmoshper where the music isn't too loud but you still feel like there is an envirment around you, and overall solid menu. They have recently changed the menu a little, and although I am disapointed they got rid of the Jalapeno Burger....the new buffalow burger was darn good and a lot healthier. They still have outstanding think crust pizza's, and overall the best pub food you could find in Richmond.

Count on this place to be consistant!

Great for drinks, skip the meal

I am willing to give this place some time to sort out its kitchen, beacause the staff and ambiance is so badly needed in Richmond. I love the decor and the yaletown feel when you are inside. Our server was really good, and I enjoyed their drinks menu. The food was very ordinary. The chicken pasta I had sounded soooo good in the menu, but upon getting it there was no flavor to it, and it was a waste of a nice cheese. Overall not impressed with the food, but will go back in 3 months and see if they have improved.
