Mr. Mikes Steakhouse & Bar8140 120 Street, Surrey
Pricey and just ok....
Submitted Thursday, June 25, 2009 - 12:54pm [Dine in]

It was mothers day and I wanted a steak so we headed over to the newly opened Mr.Mikes on Scott Road. We walked in and were seated right away. It was nice and bright and looked like every other modern steak joint on the planet. Service staff were polite but had too many tables assigned to each of them so they constantly on the move or out of sight.

We were surprised to find out that the new Mr.mikes was nothing like the ones we used to visit as kids. No salad bar, no baked potatoes. The food was just ok- our steaks were nice. Not great, just nice. Both the rib eye and the sirloin were on the small side- in fact the rib eye looked like a fast fry cut you see in the grocery store- very flat, thin and without much flavor. For the small portion sizes it was way over priced.

Dinner for two adults and 1 child including 2 pop and 1 beer, 1 appy (shared) and three meals came to $98- BEFORE TIP! Yes you read that right- $98.00 Next time I will leave the kid at home and head across the street to the competition- the prices are just as high but the quality and value are worth it.

Anybody that is in charge of bringing in food for meetings or clients knows how hard it is to find decent food, delivered at lunch, without breaking the bank. Over the years I have tried catering companies but have a really hard time paying $18-20 a head for a soup and sandwich. Then I started trying some of the chain's like Boston Pizza. Better but still pricey. Then we discovered Bozzini's. They have become one of my go-to places. They have 3 parties to go on the menu that can not be beat. We have tried all three and have received rave reviews from our guests.

1) Lasagna or Spaghetti (meat or veggie) plus Caesar Salad for 6-8 $39.95.
Comments- While the regular lasagna was great, the veggie lasagna was stuffed full of veggies and got big marks for flavor.

2) Greek lunch/dinner - Chicken or Beef souvlaki, Greek salad, rice, roasted potatoes, pita and tzatzki - feeds 10 for only $80!
Comments- SO MUCH FOOD! And very very tasty.
One customer that visits every month or so requests this every time they come to town.

3) Butter Chicken (yes butter chicken!) including rice, naan and salad- feeds 8-10 for only $59.95.
Comments- Who knew Indian from an Italian place could be so good?
A hit with everyone and very generous portions.

Try Bozzini's - you will not be disappointed at the food or the prices.

Decided to try Thai Kitchen after it was recommended to us. We had 7 in our group and were seated right away (5:30pm). It was clean and bright despite the strip mall location. While not very busy in the dining room the take out was flying out of there. Once we got our orders we knew why. All but one of us had a combination dinner- this includes a generous portion of one item off the menu plus spring roll, salad, 1 skewer of chicken satay, dipping sauce and some amazing coconut rice. All for only $12.95. I had the chicken cashew- it was fresh and tasty with just the right amount of heat. Others tried the various curries, and another tried the chicken and seasonal veggies. We all cleaned our plates- even the most picky of us.

They have lunch specials running daily till 4:45- next time I will drop in at lunch and try the green curry and noodles!
