LOVE this place!
Submitted Wednesday, January 11, 2006 - 12:41am [Dine in]

Been here a few times and I love it. It's one of those "where shall we go to eat? I dunno... I dunno... Let's just go to X-site." But it never disappoints! Parking might be a bummer because there's limited space on the street right infront of it but there's parking nearby so walking only takes a couple of minutes. It's a great place to go to if you want a place where you can chill or if you want to get served fast and get your butt out of there asap. The food and drinks are pretty cheap and the portions are big (you get a huge salad and potatoes) There's also specials every day and the staff's pretty friendly and most of the time are quite speedy when it comes to serving you.

It's dark and funky and they play a nice variety of music and the tvs are always on so you can catch up on sports as well.

The only thing I would change? More avocado on my Chicken Cali Burger.

Love their burgers!

Nice restaurant with a great view
Submitted Wednesday, January 11, 2006 - 12:31am [Dine in]

My first impression as I was arriving to the restaurant was "wow" The view was spectacular since it's located on top of Burnaby mountain (though the drive up on the narrow curvy road was a bit scary since it was so dark at night) and the restaurant looked beautiful. There's plenty of parking since the lot is pretty big for the restaurant. Once I stepped inside, I was a bit disappointed. I guess I was expecting one of those fancy posh places, not saying that it's not nice inside, it is. It was just a bit noisy that night. Made it seem like a family restaurant instead or one of those chain restaurants that are so popular. The food wasn't too bad (I ordered salmon) and the service was spectacular. The waiters and busboys were always around to fill up our water glasses and made sure everything was going great for us. (But then again, we did have tables full of girls that night...) But the experience was great and I would love to go there again!

Great Cactus Location

Thumbs up to the food (yummy chicken quesadilla) and good service (friendly waitresses and hostess).

The music's not too loud so you're able to hear what the person across from you is saying without having to shout your head off and there's TVs so you can catch up on the games.

There's plenty or parking behind the restaurant and so far I haven't had to wait for a table.

Great tasting food but you must be willing to wait for it
Submitted Wednesday, January 11, 2006 - 12:22am [Dine in]

Since it's opening in Aberdeen, this location has attracted a lot of people. It's located in Aberdeen Mall so there's lots of parking available but often the wait for a table at Tropika is long. The food's a mix of tastes from Malaysia, Singapore and India so there's a wide variety. The food is delicious but certain dishes are small and pricey. I went with my friends once and it felt like we ordered a lot, but afterwards, we still weren't quite full. The service is okay, and you sometimes have to remind them about things and check on the "waitlist" for a table.

Great Chinese Food
Submitted Wednesday, January 11, 2006 - 12:17am [Dine in]

The good:
- It's in a mall so there's lots of parking and you can shop before to work up an appetite or after to burn off the calories
- Wide selection in the menu
- Very yummy food
- Nice decor

The bad:
- You might need to wait a bit for a table
- Some of the booths are kind of small and some of the tables have these chinese stool type seats so there's no back
- A little bit on the pricey side

Overall, it's a good place to go to for great chinese food. Though the service is mediocre, the food is delicious so it's worth it and it's definately a place I would go to again.

Good place to kick back
Submitted Wednesday, January 11, 2006 - 12:12am [Dine in]

It's just a nice casual place to eat with friends, especially in the summer time. The food is decent (we ordered bbq chicken pizza and nachos if I remember correctly) and the prices aren't bad at all! So if you're in the yaletown area and you're looking for a fun cheap place to eat and have a few drinks, this would be a good choice. Make sure you try Cheech's mango chilli sauce if there's a bottle on your table!

Perfect for everyone
Submitted Wednesday, January 11, 2006 - 12:08am [Dine in]

Located right infront of Gastown's steam clock so parking might be a bit of a hassle. But Water Street Cafe is definately a nice place to eat. Its prices aren't expensive and you get served some really good food. There's variety in the menu so it's got something for everyone. The service is also good and the restaurant's really nice, especially if you have a party and you get to have the room upstairs all to yourselves.

One heck of a burger!
Submitted Wednesday, January 11, 2006 - 12:05am [Dine in]

A bit on the pricey side for a burger but the burger was big juicy and very yummy! I like how they let you choose what to put in the burger... make sure you go for Vera's sauce! The staff's also really friendly but you might have to wait a bit for your burger to be made.

Fatburgers aren't as fat as I thought it would be.
Submitted Tuesday, January 10, 2006 - 10:22pm [Dine in]

Lots pf people head down here for a famous fatburger during the summer so I thought I'd check it out. I was very disappointed. The fatburger is just okay. I was expecting this huge delicious burger but I was let down. I ate something that tasted like and was the size of every other burger. It definately wasn't a
memorable eating experience. If you're looking for a super great burger and you've got high expectations, this place is not for you.

Nice place to spend time at

The foods great and the portions aren't small. Service is pretty good and they don't mind you spending quite a bit of time there while you eat and catch up with friends. The view's fantastic and there's plenty of parking nearby due to its Granville Island and hotel location.

Good food for low prices!
Submitted Tuesday, January 10, 2006 - 10:14pm [Dine in]

Go here if you're looking for low priced but good chinese food. The dishes aren't small and the prices are low. I had the wonton noodles and the wontons are great! They give you more than other restaurants and it's got more shrimp in them too! The service is okay, but this isn't one of those places where you're going for the restaurant ambiance and top quality service, it's really just about the food. Go with family or friends for a fast or late night meal that's a good deal.

Good view, good service, good food
Submitted Tuesday, January 10, 2006 - 10:08pm [Dine in]

This location is definately better than the Richmond location. The service is wonderful, all the servers and hostesses are really nice and friendly. The prices are reasonable and the food's pretty good. I ordered the salmon and it was delicious! And the view from the restaurant is fantastic especially when it's sunset on the beach!
Parking might be a bit tough though if you're not willing to do valet.

Feenie's2563 W Broadway, Vancouver
a little overrated, but a good experience
Submitted Tuesday, January 10, 2006 - 10:02pm [Dine in]

My first impression of the restaurant... it's definately a nice looking place! It's dark, romantic, decked out in shades of reds, oranges, etc. it looks sexy to state it plainly. Although it looks to be a classy place, it's more casual than it seems. Everyone's chatty and having a good time. It's not one of those fancy quiet places, so if you're looking for a hush hush type place, this isn't one of them.
However, be prepared to wait for a while, even if you've made reservations. We made them and still had to wait almost an hour before we got our table so be prepared to sit for a while. Kill time by reading the restaurant reviews hung on the walls or grab a drink by the bar (if there's a seat available that is.) But because we had to wait so long, they asked if we wanted anything to drink and we got drinks on the house. The food we ordered was delicious! With the exception of the poutine which was just okay. Basically the only big difference is that they don't use regular potatoes to make the fries. The main dishes were great and prices are reasonable. They weren't tiny portions like some of the dishes that other "posh and pricey" restaurants serve. We also ordered the Iron Chef crab dishes from the menu. 2 thumbs up for the taste. 2 thumbs down for the price. Be prepared to drop down a few dollars for a bite sized appy....that's absolutely to die for! I wanted to keep that bite in my mouth and let it melt forever! The dessert gets my nod of approval as well.. I think it was vanilla creme brulee or something like that. Yum!
As for the service at Feenie's.. The hostess was really polite and our waiter was very nice and friendly. He was outgoing and chatted with us whenever he came by our table and generally made our experience at the restaurant wonderful. I hope he's our waiter again the next time we go!
