love this place

After reading the review below I had to put in my thoughts. I frequent this restaurant often and always find it to be a wonderful experience. The staff, which is all family, are always accomodating and go above and beyond. I appreciate this site for the food critiques. With so many different personalities, everyones experience will never be exactly the same at any restaurant. Judging by all the other 23 reviews, with most being super positive, please don't rely nor boycott this place because of one persons bad experience.

By far the best burger i've had anywhere
Submitted Monday, June 30, 2008 - 2:13pm [Dine in]

Well my wife and I finally made it in to there new location on Main this Weekend, and I have to say, outstanding in every way.

I dont know what they put in the burgers, but they are sooo good, I like the way you get to dress your burger the way you like it, the toppings are fresh, and the splitz sauce is really good!!

The fries were also good, fresh cut with the skins, and nice and crispy, we also had a milkshake that was thick and delish.

Service is friendly, the cooks actually appear to enjoy there jobs, and where quite helpful with suggestions.

The place definetly has the feel of a burger joint, it is not full service, there was a bit of a lineup when we arrived, but the setup really flows nicely, and it is a cool, different experience.

Definetly worth a visit

This was our second visit, and both times we were impressed. the food is very tasty with lots of ethnic seasoning, although I did find a couple of dishes a little over salted, but not to the point that we couldn't enjoy them. The service is great and they happily helped us with some excellent choices. The room is very bright and comfortable.

I especially liked the crab and the satays, we will defenitly go back

Too Pricey - Great soup though
Submitted Saturday, August 25, 2007 - 5:28pm [Dine in]

decided to try this place for dinner last week, It was interesting. The food was good mostly, but the prices are high for what you get. we each got the dinner plate which was $17.00 I would have been happier paying @ $14.00 as the portion sizes were tiny. They serve a soup and salad with a choice of two stew items to put into a roti wrap. The soup was very tasty, but you only get about 4 tablespoons in a tiny bowl. The atmosphere is not really for me as they sit you with strangers at small tables, we actually sat outside on a couple of stumps, and ordered through the take out window. The server was okay but I never really felt comfortable.

The soup was so good that I went to the main st location for lunch a couple of days later and ordered a large bowl for $5.00, it was the same great soup and a nice healthy portion size, I actually noticed a sign at this location that said if you wanted more food just ask your server, I never saw that sign at the Broadway location, or I would have taken them up on that!!

We enjoyed the buffet
Submitted Tuesday, August 21, 2007 - 9:26am [Dine in]

Really good simple buffet, which is the way I prefer Indian food, because I am not that well versed in the cuisine, although I love the flavours, There are about 10 hot items on the buffet with a 60/40 split meat / vegetarian options. I loved the butter chicken and the tandoori chicken especially, lamb curry was also very good as was the cauliflower dish. There is also a selection of cold items with some tasty sauces to accompany the dishes. They also bring fresh naan to your table direct fromver the oven which was delicious.

This was our second visit and both times we had the same friendly server, all the staff seems happy to be there and look after you well

Burger does not live up to the hype
Submitted Friday, August 17, 2007 - 9:45pm [Dine in]

My wife and I finally decided to try the famous Feenie Burger, I had big exectations after all the hype about it being the best burger in Vancouver.

The room is nice although a little cold for me, we sat on the patio it was around 3:00 pm and there were about 10 people there.

Well, we both ordered the burger, and although it was okay, it was not nearly as good as I was expecting the bun was fresh and the toppings were good expect for the small bit of regular bacon that was cooked hours ago, (for $16.00 bucks throw a slice of fresh pancetta or procuitto on it) but the patty was pretty bland, I thought it was under seasoned and although they state that they cook it medium mine was closer to well done, the fries were good and presented nicely in a silver cone, but the whole thing is not worth $16.00.

The service was a little slack as well I think we caught them in the middle of a shift change as our servers changed half way through and niether one was all that friendly

Overall I'm sure that the high end items are done well especially in lumiere and this experience wont keep me from trying it one day but I think there are better burgers out there for much more reasonable prices

Great view good food
Submitted Saturday, August 11, 2007 - 6:15pm [Dine in]

We took a family member from T.O. for dinner the other night, a very nice room with a great view of the water and downtown.

I had the spinach and frissee salad with goats cheese to start it was tasty but quite small and one piece of frissee amongst the spinach and arugula, the presentation was so so. I had the Prime rib which was ordered M/R but was closer to M/W but was hard to tell because the whole thing was smothered in a red wine sauce that was tasty but I would have prefered it on the side. the vegies and potato were good. My son had the beef ribs that he enjoyed, and my wife had the Arctic char that ahe liked, Overall the food was good but could have been better for the price.

The room is very nice, the fish tanks seem a little outdated, but I like the big open kitchen, The service was very good

We have been eating here for years and are never dissapointed, The Splitz burger is by far the best I've ever tried, and I've tried lots from all over the place.

They spezialize in burgers and take them very seriously, the meat is perfectly seasoned, you get to choose your toppings from about 20 choices including home made sauces. You have to try the splitz sauce but be careful as it is highly addictive.

The service is very good and friendly as you interact directly with the cooks as they put your order together, there is no table service but the atmosphere is fun, and electric.

It can get busy at times with line ups but is worth the wait, we cant wait for there new location to open in Vancouver.

My wife and I tried this place for the first time yesterday, and were a little dissapointed it was pretty average we had the calamari and humus to start and there was nothing special about it pretty much what you would get anywhere. for mains we had the lamb souvlaki, which was served with a small side of greek salad which was a little dissapointing, some rice which was good and some raosted potatoes which were quite good the lamb souvlaki tasted very good but was a little tough

Our server was freindly, but when we asked if they could turn on the heater on the patio she said it was broken, but did not offer to bring us inside where there were plenty of seats, and was warmer, we had to ask if we could move. Nice decore about 50 seats.

the best part was the double highballs on special for $5.25

This is one of my favourite little spots in my neighbourhood, the food is very consistant and full of flavour.

The currys are all very good I cant decide if I prefer the green or yellow, I also enjoy the rice noodles with beef and greenbeans.

The value is good especially if you get the combo, it comes with a soup, a spring roll, and small salad.

Very simple and clean decore with about 15 seats the staff is very friendly and knowlegable
