Kent's Kitchen, been coming here for ages. Its dirty, its greasy, but you can get most items... they give you sooo much food and its stupidly cheap.
Make sure you get the food to go. Ya don't wanna dine in there!
Food is a lil greasy at times, but its pretty good... beats that mall Chinese or TnT takeout stuff.
Enjoy!
Been coming here for ages. Big awesome steamed buns, everytime I am near Chinatown I have to make a pitstop and I always get carried away. Filling up stacked boxes of steamed buns. They have lots of baked stuff too but that stuff can usually be picked up anywhere.
Its usually busy, but they have enough staff for the bun takeout where you aren't waiting at all.
Dined inside a couple times, its cheap and they have specials. Kind of typical Chinese too bright cafeteria feel which sucks. and the service kind of sucks.
I want a sausage bun right now. Too bad I dined in and stuffed myself, couldnt bring myself to bring a box home.
Its all about the buns!
A friend had this delivered to his place... figured meh because usually smaller pizza joints you get that generic boring stuff.
I was super surprised!!!
This place was strictly Chicago deep dish kinda gourmet style. Good thing because the toppings were piled crazy high. Was really good, some of the best pizza I've had in a long time.
Check it out if you are close, I really wish they had a spot downtown I could get delivery.
Yes Nandos.
Tuesdays they offer a great deal. 2 people can scarf down 4 legs and 2 sides for around $16 dollars total!
So fresh and tasty, food comes out real quick as its a semi-fast food joint. Great value and the staff is always friendly.
Super seasoned spicy fire roasted chicken is good.
Stopped coming here a few years back. Tried it again with a buddy... late lunch after taking care of some work stuff. It was happy hour! I love happy hour, Canada really needs to utilize Happy Hour.
We sat on the patio, which I didn't even know existed before, and a pretty great one at that. Super chill with sunshine, decent view of Denman.
Cheap 3.50 Sapporo bottles.
99c all nigiri
1.99 all rolls
etc etc...
The quality isn't great, but they serve the sockeye salmon, nigiri and sashimi which is pretty darn tasty.
Service sucks tho, didnt get my rolls. The must have forgot that I didn't order all you can eat. I think AYCE was around $24 for dinner. No thanks.
Anyways, happy hour makes it worth a visit.
I came here recently and enjoyed it again. Figured i would share the love for those who haven't been yet.
Great location in Kits, majority super good servers, comfortable chill vibe, large tasty portioned food. Tasty drinks. Pepperoni stick in my big Caesar. Gets busy though, may have to wait a while to sit.
Great summer night spot.
Great location, nice view. 'Beachside' patio. New restaurant.
I live a block away and always thought how awesome this place will be once it opens and it gets sunny out.
I'm not the biggest Cactus fan, patios rock... not too huge on the overall phony vibe.
Went here a couple times and there were hour waits. Came back a few weeks later to check it out. It was a Monday lunch, patio was full so we sat upstairs. Nice view, pleasant server. Super cold cheap beers. Wasn't too hungry but ordered a shortrib sandwich. $17 or so... and was ultra boring. They made it sound good. Very disappointed in the food.
I think for Cactus the food was below average, a cool place to go if you want to have some drinks with a view or patio sessions.
Inside is pretty small, kinda strange. This location is over-hyped for sure. Definitely not worth the lineup or wait.
I went here because there was a line at Santouka Ramen on Robson, and we were too hungry to wait. I've been the the Benkei that was on Thurlow St, which was pretty good.
I ordered the Shio and side of gyozas.
What a disappointment with the ramen. My broth was so bland and plain, salty with a bad pork taste to it. The meat in my soup was dry, added in after. Gyozas were pretty good. Overall I would have preferred to cook up some packaged ramen.
It was empty inside. No wonder
Love this place, I work in the industry so I used to come have after work drinks here. Often eaten meals, very very tasty. Quality food and presentation. Love the ambiance, dark warm relaxed place. Some Kegs you can get a great meal or a very disappointing one, this one is super consistent!
Enjoy!
Super cheap classic chinese food. Super greasy, dirty restaurant. I am still down for it. 3 items shared and came to 18 dollars! choice! Chinese food taste and quality not the best but still worth it.
I used to come here alot for the noodles with spicy bbq pork on top. awesome!
Good times!
I would come to the Moxies Robson location a lot when I lived nearby and it was pretty good then. I came back recently with friends and I was very disappointed. My meal was bad and pretty pricey for what I got. My friends mentioned how bad their meals were too.
The decor is very relaxing and nice, but that is about all.
I won't be coming back to this location.
I was going on about how Sushi Town in Burnaby was great. An original place. They opened up a larger version in coquitlam, but left out the quality.
Yeah, they have big portions and cheap prices. But it is very sketchy sushi. I can taste fishyness in the sashimi and it was warm like it was sitting out for a while. I also bit down on a huge scale in my sashimi, and almost threw up.
I felt sick minutes after eating the sushi.
I eat sushi all the time, but ive never felt scared about eating it like this experience. Do yourself a favor and avoid.
Went there a little while ago with a friend who kept raving about this place. Yea its the smallest restaurant I've ever seen so we waited a bit. I was expecting some great food, but what I got only seemed so so. It also seemed like we got a little attitude from the head biatch.
I dont remeber it being great so i wouldnt recommend it.
Overally pretty disappointing. Maybe average. Didnt seem worth it.
I used to come here all the time to the old location, when i was in high school.
Man my tastes must have grown up. Its garbage. Value is good being an all u can eat with all the typical variety of dishes, but it is lame. They even try to charge you extra for sashimi.
Sushi is personally gross there. Very bare-minimum quality and the hell with you service. I guess if you are just a super hungry dude and dont care for taste, go for it. Tomakasu and Shabusen are 100X better.
Ive been here a few times for drinks after work with work peeps. Once for food. Very chill spot, nice hip decor, nice tunes (i swear they found a mix cd of mine). Good looking drinks, food is presented well and is tasty. This place had $11? pitchers of beer at one point. what a deal for dt, except i realized they tasted pretty watery. Still I thought what a cool spot.
When I returned with company for drinks and some food, I was seated and then proceeded to be ignored. The other customers who were seated after us were getting service but we werent. We sat for close to 20 minutes before getting up and walking out. Racist or what, it happened another time i came in to give it second shot. Will never go back. And im half asian. guess they couldnt tell, maybe i would have gotten an order in.
This place was recommended to me by a friend, so I took my girl out there one night. Very interesting place, very friendly happy staff, very cool ambiance (we booked a table). Majority of the food was very very good, izakaya is small portions. We enjoyed ourselves, seemed like a very authentic place. The staff were super nice and courteous. My only complaint was the price; we tried a bunch of things, a couple drinks, and the bill was about $90.
I used to live a few blocks away and when friends would be all hung over after houseparties or clubbing we would go here for breakfast. they had the combination pancake which i liked. bacon, sausage, cheese busted up into a huge pancake. food was decent. plus i didnt know many other breakfast spots walking distance..
This place has this gimmick as you may notice from these reviews.
They advertise as having the worst service, "you want coffee? fuck off get it yourself!" how the fuck is that funny? ok whatever. im hung over i dont really give a shit too much. but when the gay servers/owners start hitting on your or saying sexual shit i lose my appetite.
I must have really needed hangover breakfasts cuz i dont know why i went there on numerous occasions.
Ive been going here for years as I live in the Coq area, Its a little dirty, cold, pretty bleh decor but that doesnt matter much when you are craving dim sum. I think it is $2.75 a dish which is at the cheap end of dim sum, but its still pretty tasty, defintely worth it. You really get what you pay for with most meals. The servers are friendly and yes their english isnt great, but pointing can work for those who cant speak chinese. its dim sum, easy!
If you feel like stepping up your quality and price locally, id recommend Kirin. if you just want some quick solid dimsum for cheap, Kam Ding all the way.
I stopped by here once for drinks with some friends, as it was a local place. I was immediately impressed with the style of decor, almost like an outdoor japanese garden? The creativity and the style of the drinks for the girls was impressive, unfortunately I had already eaten. The owner seemed to be incredibly friendly and appreciative to us and our business. Very honest and genuine.
I later came back to eat and the menu was impressive. Lots of variety and definitely a cool style to the items. They started off by bringing us some free small appys, and when the food came, I was satisfied with every dish. I am a a real picky sushi eater, yet this was very solid.
I go back all the time, only downside id say is that one time they messed up a friends order. but offered free sake as compensation.
A few of my friends mentioned O Sushi, which is right by my house off parkway. I enjoy sushi more than your average, and was very disappointed. Sub-par sushi similar to some takeout sushi you could get at 7-11. The rolls and sushi was extrememly weak, boring, not fresh, bad texture. Not that cheap either, pretty weak decor but that doesnt matter too much.
Just another sushi joint that you walk out of feeling completely ripped off. I don't understand how these reviewers rated it so high. That is unless they run the restaurant. A shame as its super close to me.
