Gladly Surprised
Submitted Friday, January 18, 2008 - 1:20am [Dine in]

Rare, is a great delight. We went in for the Dineout menu with not much expectations and came out of the restaurant very happy and satisfied. Rare serves up great food that is cooked carefully and exquisitely. Even though the dishes came slowly, we were able to enjoy some conversation in the dimly lighted restaurant which provides a soothing ambiance. The servers were very helpful and attentive. Rare also offered some small surprises. When we ordered the 3 course dineout menu, they had nicely offered us two extra little tidbits. 1 pre meal, a small puffy pastry filled with some pate and a sweet blueberry mousse pre dessert. I had the Cornish Game Hen, very tasty and filling. My bro who had the veal cheeks was raving about how tender they were. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys a nice quiet environment and great food. However, the food comes out a little slower than most other places so leave yourself more time if you are at the restaurant but it is well worth the wait.

A Great Meal Deserves to be Mentioned
Submitted Thursday, November 1, 2007 - 12:09am [Dine in]

If not for my sister, I would have never know about this restaurant. It is tucked in the corner of a strip mall that has been dominated by Shoppers Drug Mart.

The food is delicious. Portions are generous. Service is good as well. This is definitely a restaurant that I will frequent more often. Also, the restaurant looks clean. Decor is simple but I'm there for really good curries and that's what they served.

We ordered Lamb Vindaloo, Goat Biryani, Lamb Saag, Tandoori Mixed Grill, Garlic Naans and Rice. Everything was so creamy, spicy and good.

The chai tea is also very tasty. Spiced well and soothing to the stomach. I will be back very soon.

Slow Service Good Food

Nice decor, nice environment. However, the service is poor and the food takes a long time to be served. During numerous visits, we had to remind the servers to hurry with our dishes. The food is good portions are reasonable. If only the service would improve...

Lychee Martini says it All

Loved everything about this restaurant. First of all, nice decor, very intimate esp after I had the Lychee martini which was very tasty, sweet and strong. The dishes serve come in a reasonable portion esp the Ribs and Steaks. The Ahi Tuna Salad looked wonderful as well. Appetizers was delicious. I definitley go back for another round of martinis again.

Fun Restaurant for a Nite Out
Submitted Saturday, September 15, 2007 - 2:14am [Dine in]

This is a great spot for hanging out with your friends and having a couple drinks and some yummy Carribean food. One of our favorites, we frequent this restaurant at least a few times a year. Our favorite dishes here are fried plantains dipped in that delicious sauce. Oxtail stew and Goat curry are also great tasting washed down with some Hisbiscus cocktail. ordered the Sangria once but it was too watery. Jerked chicken wings packs great spicy flavor. Love the atmosphere here makes it casual and laid back. Lines get longer towards the nite during weekend but the mood livens up as the night gets longer.

Meat Lacks Flavor
Submitted Saturday, September 15, 2007 - 2:08am [Dine in]

Had read the previous reviews here before heading out to this restaurant so did not not know what to expect. I've had had Brazilian BBQ once at RumJungle in Vegas and that was an experience so I was dissapointed with Samba Brazilian Steak House. The meats seems to lack flavor and was not piping hot. Among the meats served was, chicken wrapped with bacon, sirloin, lamb, sausage, chicken liver. Only the lamb had more flavor. Surprisingly, the chicken liver was tasty. As for other meats, i had to add a lot of other condiments. The drinks were tasty though, had a Sangria and it was one of the better Sangria I've had. Overall, for 26 dollars, this is an okay place to eat for AYCE. Buffets are mostly hit and miss. The salad bar was pretty good. Lots of selection.
