Worse Coffee in Metro Vancouver
Submitted Friday, July 22, 2011 - 6:53pm [Dine in]

I ordered a coffee today.

Until today, I thought McDonalds had the worse coffee imaginable. Rocanini's however takes 1st place as the worse coffee I've ever tasted in my lifetime. Like the previous reviewer, I also had to throw my coffee in the garbage. It was simply dreadful. That was a wasted 3.00!

This cafe may have an italian name, but it's definitely NOT made by people who are coffee connaisseurs.

I emailed the company for a refund of 3.35. Hopefully will get my money back.

Service was good, and nice place to sit in....next time, will buy my coffee at Starbucks, and sit here to drink it!

Surprisingly Great Tasting Vanilla Bean Cupcakes and Nicely Priced
Submitted Monday, January 24, 2011 - 1:37pm [Dine in]

Starbucks' Vanilla Bean Cupcakes are suprisingly good. Cake is moist, and the frosting is nice and light with robust vanilla flavour. After tasting the 1st one, I went back to buy 8 more for the road home.
Priced at 4 cupcakes for 6.95. This is 1.74 each, and okay in my book.
Comparatively, the Starbucks vanilla cupcakes are better than the "Cupcakes" and Big City's cupcakes hands-down. But cupcakes at Bell's Bakeshop still win hands down.

Nice Denser Cupcake, with Organic Twist and All Natural Ingredients
Submitted Monday, January 24, 2011 - 1:30pm [Take-out]

Vegan White Cupcake with Raspberry Frosting was very good.
All natural and organic ingredients used. The texture of cake is denser due to use of vegan shortening. Taste is nice, definitely not too sweet. Good for those without sweet tooth.
Priced at 4 cupcakes for 9.99, which is good in my book for taste, size, and density.
Pretty filling.

Safeway Cupcakes Simply Awful!
Submitted Monday, January 24, 2011 - 12:32pm [Dine in]

This week, Safeway cupcakes are on sale for 4.99 for 4 cupcakes.
One word about taste: terrible with a capital T, with explanation mark !
The strawberry cupcake's frosting tasted like some experiment gone wrong. The frosting was full of bitter chemical flavour that it was indigestible, and I had to throw out. Too bad I had 4 cupcakes to throw out.
No human or animal for that matter should ever subject their stomach to this frosting.
One good note, yes there is one: the white cake was nice.
Scrap off the frosting eat the cake to savage your money is what I would recommend.

In process of emailing head office to inform them of this disaster of a cupcake, and request for refund.

Yummy Smoothies
Submitted Monday, January 24, 2011 - 12:18pm [Dine in]

I've been going to Jugo Juice religiously for about 1 year.
I've tried all of the fruity smoothies and I've never been disappointed. Fresh fruit.
Most people think for almost 6.00 I'm crazy to have a smoothie 5 times/week.
For me, who's known for being stingy with my money, every cent is worth it.
Size is big enough that I see it almost like a satisfying meal, and a healthy one to boot.

Cute Little Cupcake Place with Pricy, Average Tasting Cupcakes
Submitted Monday, January 24, 2011 - 12:09pm [Dine in]

What I like most about Cupcakes is the dainty pink interior of the store. The packaging of the cupcakes and the display of the variety of cupcakes is very professional that most first time passerbyers would take notice, and try out. Service clerks are very friendly and cute with their pink cupcakes t-shirts.
However, that's where the good stops. Stripping away the exceptional marketing, one is left with the ultimate test ~ the taste of the simple, yet complicated vanilla cupcake? Simple recipe, but difficult to push the vanilla flavour to wow the taste palate. Cake itself is moist, with same quality of a sponge cake. Vanilla flavour I did not taste. The buttercream frosting had a nice light texture, and not too sweet, but lacked vanilla flavour as well. Did the baker forget the vanilla extract is what I asked myself...being a vanilla cupcake, I expected a strong vanilla flavour. Disappointed only with lack of vanilla flavour. Previous reviewer is correct to say that the cupcake taste similar to a Safeway white cake. However, for $ 2.75 / cupcake, I had higher expectations than Safeway's $13.99 whole white cake.

Wonder if they give a refunds?

Mediocre Pricy Cupcakes
Submitted Monday, January 24, 2011 - 11:52am [Dine in]

Mediocre cupcake. Cake was a little too dense and dry for me. I wondered whether it was a day old item that should have been marked down. Frosting was a cream cheese base which was okay, but a nice light and airy buttercream would be better. For the price, it wasn't worth it.
Improvements to cake's lightness with better flavor, and switch to a light buttercream frosting, would certainly have me coming back. Until that time...my search continues for the best cupcake.

Nice Coffee Place with Excellent Cafe Latte
Submitted Monday, January 24, 2011 - 11:46am [Dine in]

This place serves very nice coffee. Nice cafe latte with just a right amount of steamed milk, and robust coffee flavour. Would definitely come back. Good standby to Caffe Artigiano and Take 5 on days not downtown. Space though a little cramped, but in Steveston Village, I like to walk around this friendly community!

Love, Love, Love...these Cupcakes
Submitted Monday, January 24, 2011 - 11:40am [Dine in]

Love, Love, Love...these Cupcakes.
Like 1st reviewer, I've tried almost all the cupcake places in Vancouver, but not really impressed that I would make a repeat trip.
Finally, at the verge of giving up, and looking into baking my own cupcakes due to dissatisfaction of other cupcake outlets, ventured out to Steveston Village to try Bell's Cupcakes with "low" expectation.
Shockingly...first bite resulted in WoW" effect due factors that make awesome cupcake.
Vanilla cupcake ~ cake was moist and had a strong vanilla flavour, which all other cupcake places lack.
Vanilla frosting also had distinctive vanilla flavor and buttery taste about it.
I want this recipe is what I left saying to myself. However, with a cupcake joint like this, screw baking!
