What's that you say? These spring rolls are from Costco?
Submitted Tuesday, May 22, 2012 - 12:07am [Dine in]

No thank you very much you can take these back.
Then the server comes back and says "well, we've taken them back this time but we can serve food from costco if we want"

The costco spring are no doubt good but i don't come here to eat frozen food and pay 10 times the price for it. And therefore I and my money are never coming back again and you can serve frozen food all you want.

Thank you very much

Good poutine
Submitted Monday, May 21, 2012 - 11:59pm [Dine in]

Now that i found poutine with with vegetarian gravy i finally got to try it. I cannot compare the gravy to other places however their fries are one of the best I've tried in Vancouver. They remain crisps for the longest time.
What can i say? They serve really good vegetarian poutine! I like that you have an option to make your own and can add you own choice of veggies to it.

Service is very friendly and the restaurant is modest, would definitely recommend this place.

Food: Love, love, love their masala dosas with sambhar. They are just perfect. My dad always orders their chicken curry with roti. I don't think they have it anymore. But he loved it. Their vada and idli platter is a hit with mom and my boy friend.

But I always found their idli to be a bit too dry and hard. So i'm not a big fan of that but their vadas are delicious.
Service: extremely friendly and quick. They make you feel at home.

Ambiance: What distinguishes this place from other Indian restaurants for me is they always have cricket on. I love cricket. It makes the meal all the more enjoyable.

If i'm craving spicy dosas this is where i'll go without a doubt.

Good Indian style Chiniese food
Submitted Saturday, May 19, 2012 - 8:58pm [Dine in]

One of the few places that serve fantastic Indian style Chinese food. They’re consistent with their food and I appreciate that very much. No scary surprises anywhere.

One of the popular dishes in India is momos, I’m not sure if any of readers have tried it. They are basically chicken dumplings cooked in a spicy sauce. This place has them and they’re absolutely amazing. They take me back to the east Indian street food with one bite.

They also have really good chilli fish. I love that the fish is cut into to shreds and then deep fired as opposed big chunks of fish that other places serve. This makes it retain its crispiness for a longer period of time.

The portions are alright. One suggestion would be to change the serving plates. The way they’re designed at this time is they lay flat and therefore can’t hold a lot of gravy. I’m a lots of gravy kinda girl so would like for the gravy dishes to be served in bowls instead!

I go to school right beside this place and they have the best California rolls ever. Being mostly vegetarian my sushi options are well... very limited obviously. Therefore I’ve tried California rolls from a lot of places. But this place by far has the best rolls I’ve come across in terms of taste and cost effectiveness.

The avocado inside is fresh which i love; i hate it when the avocado goes brown it tends lose its flavour.
Plus you can tell the sushi is fresh as the rice is nice and soft.

I know there is another sushi place adjacent to this one of which I’ve heard good reviews but the reason why i prefer this one over the other is that this place doesn’t charge a service fee for making a purchase with your credit card.

I love this place with all my heart! Cozy, casual and oh so welcoming.

Their breakfast is cheap, service is quick and food is good. The only thing that gives me the heebie-jeebies is the cleanliness of the place. Yeah, it’s not so clean after all. The plates sometimes have a stain on them (which I can ofcourse wipe off) but that’s the only problem I’ve faced thus far.

But that doesn’t deter me from coming here. A $4.95 sit down breakfast with a yummy cup of coffee brewed to perfection can overcome any fear.

Nice café my friend you’re very nice to me

I’ve been here a couple of times and each time I’ve had a solid experience.

We usually visit this place for drinks and appetizers. And the main reason why I keep retuning is cause they have lots of vegetarian options. And being vegetarian I can defiantly appreciate that.

My staple food here is vegetarian poutine; I have to have it every time. Thick vegetarian gravy with squeaky cheese curds, I guess one word to describe it would be YUM!
I’ve also tried their nachos which aren’t bad. Calamari is what a friend of mine orders from here every time I suppose that must be good too.

I like the service here it’s prompt and courteous. I will defiantly be back.

Worst service ever, I'm bitter and angry
Submitted Sunday, April 22, 2012 - 6:50pm [Dine in]

I've been visiting this restaurant for years and ever since the management changed I’ve been disappointed each time I’ve been here.

Today I had ordered take out knowing that I didn’t care much for their service and didn’t have the patience to deal with it.
I had ordered szechuan vegetable WITH EXTRA GRAVY and specifically told the girl who was taking my order that I’d like extra gravy on the side in large rice box they normally use. ( I CANNOT GET MORE SPECFIC THAN THAT), and vegetable Manchurian chowmein.
When I came back home I realised the extra gravy was in a small tub 1/3 rd of the size I had asked for and and the noodles weren’t machuirain style they were just plain old noodles.

Obviously being disappointed again, I called the restaurant and asked for a manager. When she came on the phone she was extremely rude and her tone wasn’t professional. She said the girl who took my order did me a FAVOUR by giving me the extra gravy (which I paid extra for by the way!) and that they are usually not supposed to give gravy on the side . I tried explaining to her it would have been nice if I was told that when that when the order was picked. At that point she became was very abrasive and combative.
Then I told her I had PAID for vegetable Manchurian chowmein and not regular chowmin her response to that was “WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO’? I said it would be fair to give me a refund for additional money I paid for the Manchurian chowmein that I never got. At that point she blurted something and hung up

The bottom line is the management is HORRIBLE they obviously don’t know what customer service is. The manger was combative and unprofessional. I’m left feeling cheated and bitter.

I used to go here for the food but will never come here again. Too bad the owners changed and the new staff and the “manager” are chasing customers away.

I work right by this place and I'm addicted to their food.
They're famous for their lunch specials. i know because every time i visit this place they're always packed. That ought to be a good sign.

For about 7$ you get curry+rice+a spring roll and green tea. They do not compromise on taste at all. Portion sizes are very generous And there are a lots of options for vegetarians

My personal favourites are red curry and their crispy noodles with oyster sauce. I keep coming back at least once a week . Can never get tired of it

Service is always good. You can tell its a family run restaurant and the owners are very passionate about this place.

If you live close by and like Thai food you have to come here for lunch and there's no way you'll be disappointed.

Food: You may be disappointed if you're looking for traditional and authentic food here. But if you come here with an open mind you may just love it! I had the teryaki noodle bowl with tofu. and i'm absolutely in love with the sauce. Sometimes teryaki sauces have an odd taste to them but this once was just right and very well balanced. Will definitely recommend this place to some one who's craving noodles.

Service: Since it was my first visit i was a little sceptical about the flavours and what to try. The cashier was very helpful and allowed me to taste almost all the sauces on the menu. I must say she was very helpful. The chef who was cooking my dish was very animated and had a huge personality. It just made the experience even better.

Value: 12 bucks for a bowl of noodles is probably too much to ask for especially it being a fast food restaurant. But other than that I have nothing negative to say about this place.

Overall I liked how the food tasted, loved the service and don't mind shelling out a little bit more once a while for fast food if they keep up with the service and portion sizes.

My South Indian food fix!
Submitted Tuesday, February 8, 2011 - 12:50am [Dine in]

This place is clean, fast with yummy food and comes with a good value. If you want to try south Indian food you have to try their buffet. Unlimited naans and dosas ??!! like seriously. "Heaven" for an Inidan food lover.

If you're out of luck and their buffet has closed. Their a la carte menu is just as good. I love their Channa Batura. It’s funny how each time they bring it batura (a ginormous deep fired bread) out people’s heads turn and everyone then orders the same thing! But it’s the best Channa Batura i have tried in Vancouver.
I'm also a big fan of their Kadai Paneer. Its cottage cheese with butter chicken gravy.

Service is nothing special. But if you're contemplating visiting this place. Stop! You must try it out.. and you won’t be disappointed.

We love Thai food and thought we should give this place a try.
We ordered Vegetable spring rolls and boneless stuffed wings to start with. It took ages to first bring the spring rolls which tasted bland. Then once we were done with that they brought the stuffed chicken wings. The flavour was good but were very chewy. I was a little upset at that time it would have been nice to have had both appetizers alongside each other but whatever.

We then ordered Red chicken curry, chilli pepper fired rice and pad Thai . The servers seemed very rushed. After every 5 minutes we had a different server ask us if we needed anything. My boyfriend jokingly said "may be our food would be nice!"

All dishes came one by one. Again it would have been nice if they brought it out all together. Rather than have two cold dishes and one warm.
The chicken curry had no curry or to be fair the chicken and vegetables seemed to have been dipped in curry and then served. The chicken again was rubbery. The chilli pepper fired was actually really good. I took one for home too. And the pad Thai was sweet. I didn taste any chilli. The sweetness was overwhelming and the egg smelled stale for some reason.

Over all this place was major disappointment. I'm better off getting my thai fix from a food court with seriously better service and better tasting food.

Meh..
Submitted Friday, November 19, 2010 - 2:42pm [Dine in]

Me and my boyfriend USED to frequent this place often.
Basil fried rice was my favorite with lots of vegetables and spices. The green curry was a staple too. The food takes long to come and it is difficult to communicate to servers to make any changes to the dish due to a language barrier.
But the food has always been a hit and miss. Sometimes its too spicy and at times we've had to send it back because its too bland.

I hate to have my fingers crossed each time when we order food. Just not worth the risk. Never coming here again, gave them too many chances already.
Its a pity because the food when its good its really good. But i cant afford keep getting dirty looks from servers when i send the food back because the cook forgot the put salt in my food for the 100 th time!

Such a shame

Good thai food
Submitted Friday, November 19, 2010 - 1:34pm [Dine in]

I came to this place with a bunch of friends since the other thai place we wanted to go to near by was closed. None of us knew what to expect. The banner outside is very dull but the inside of the restaurant is beautiful. One of the better looking Thai restaurants I've been to by far.

We ordered roti canai and spring rolls to start with. The roti was very soft and crispy. The sauce that came with it seemed to be a hotter version of red curry sauce.

I myself ordered red curry and their thai fried rice. Their portion sizes are huge! Definitely not for one person to finish. The curry and the rice were ok. But the food came quite fast and we didn't have to wait for long between the apps and the main course.

Our server was very friendly. But he did screw up with my drink. I had ordered it with no ice. And when i told home that he quickly apologized and said i could keep that drink and he made me a new in a 2 minutes! that was a bonus!

Will definitely come back for more!

Good servie and good fast food make for an awesom experience everytime!
Submitted Friday, November 19, 2010 - 1:18pm [Dine in]

I love this place!! Their service is fast and the staff is always very friendly.
Their burritos come in 10 and 12 inches. I myself prefer the 10 inch Jhonny O.
I think it comes with Mexican rice, salsa, sour cream, jalapenos, cheese and some more stuff. Its delicious. I have it every week and still cant get enough of it.

The ambiance is nothing special, not the best. You can tell its a hipster place with the kind of posters on the wall. I dont mind it all. But what i do mind is the loud music. I like to eat my food in peace . Music is good as long it isn't too overwhelming and loud. That's a bummer. But overall its great place to fill your tummy at good price.
