Loved the Look, not the Price
Submitted Wednesday, November 2, 2011 - 11:49am [Dine in]

You can't deny that the ambiance of the restaurant is nice and cozy, and the food isn't bad by any means. Very simply, it's decent quality comfort food, but nothing to be overly impressed with. Beware of the appy bruschetta, you only get two small slices of bread; the humus is also very small for the price. Decent food, nice atmosphere, marginal value.

Solid Fish & Chips with Great Service
Submitted Wednesday, November 2, 2011 - 11:25am [Dine in]

I was very impressed with our server who memorized our 5 orders (with slight adjustments) and delivered them to us exactly as requested. If you have a hankering for some classic fish and chips, you will not be disappointed. Clean and quick, with friendly service - there's not much more you can ask for. The menu is has remained virtually unchanged for years. I did however notice the addition of tacos which I'll have to try next time I'm in!

X-Site Grill and Bistro4625 Hastings St., Burnaby
Best Meal Deal in Town
Submitted Wednesday, November 2, 2011 - 11:18am [Dine in]

As long-time Xcite patrons, we've been eating here for well over 10 years. The beauty for X-Site is the mix of patrons you'll see on any given night. From SFU students, families and seniors, everyone knows they're getting a fantastically priced, solid meal. X-Site has only managed to overcook my burger once in a 10 year span. Otherwise the food is bang-on, exactly what you're expecting time and time again. As regulars, we appreciate the small things, like when the waitress automatically brings us the hot sauce, and knows I prefer my shrimp club to be a single-decker (rather than a double). I hope they remain here until I'm old and grey!

Akira Sushi Restaurant4219 Hastings Street, Burnaby
Great Value, Tasty Food & Warm Atmosphere
Submitted Wednesday, November 2, 2011 - 11:10am [Dine in]

Love Akira Sushi! They make the best Lunch Box Combo's in town and have the most wonderful japanese Green Salad of any restaurant, the dressing is delicious! You feel like part of the family here. The service is great, always filling up your tea. Children's artwork and letters from the community cover the walls, it feels very homey and kid friendly.

Take Sushi4528 Hastings Street, Burnaby
Excellent Quality Food
Submitted Wednesday, November 2, 2011 - 10:57am [Dine in]

Among the numerous sushi restaurants along Hastings, Take really stands out in terms of quality of food.
Their rolls, sashimi, and hot dishes have all impressed me. The rolls are smaller than at places like Sushi Garden or Sushi Town, however, the contents are of much highly calibre, and you can actually fit a piece of sushi in your mouth. Plan on visiting Take when you're not in a hurry as the service can sometimes be slower. On a Saturday evening (7pm) the place was packed, however with only 2 servers, the food came out slowly. That being said, the staff was very friendly and apologetic - which is fine, when the food is good!

Cafe Classico4263 East Hastings Street, Burnaby
Excellent Home-style Food and Warm Atmosphere

This charming cafe offers up great coffee and tasty soups and sandwiches that really fill you up! The soup of the day is my favourite as it's always something different; paired with a carefully prepared sandwich, the lunch specials are a fantastic value. The service and atmosphere makes you feel like you're visiting old friends. It's obvious Cafe Classico is a Burnaby Heights jewel by the amount of daily regulars I've seen.
