Good Food but not worth the price!
Submitted Saturday, April 1, 2006 - 4:59pm [Dine in]

I went there 2 times and that's it. Although the dimsum is pretty good but they're not worth the price tag. I'd rather go to Dai Tung in Burnaby for a good dimsum or there's a place in Richmond on No. 3 rd in front of Richmond Center, where the TD Bank complex is ($1.88 most dimsum from 8 - 10 am cheap..it used to be $1.68). Let me tell you from (great) 5 - 1 (worse) rating, they score 4 but Daitung is 3.75 (reason is a little inconsistency on food taste day in and out). Kirin prices are probably one the most expensive dimsum you could ever find. Let me tell you how good can a Siu May or Hakkao can be....so .25 different in rating is hardly noticeable unless you're food expert. The only thing that I can give them a better rating is for their creativity in making unique dimsum entree. To some people who can justify a Siu May at more than $4 then this probably is your place.

Great Food & Pls don't spoil me!

We encountered this place by accident and soon it becomes one of our favorites. They also offered free meal less than $10 on your birthday with at least $15 purchase. Not Bad. I loved their Chicken Rendang, Chicken Three Spice (one of the best and would share the same rating as Pearl (most popular cafe on the same complex just couple of stores away) and definitely much better than VOGUE...which I think is way too overrated...), Their soup on paper is not bad. We totally fall in love with their ice slush with strawberry and sour green mango mixed with kumkuat juice and condensed milk.

Mr. Sushi God
Submitted Tuesday, March 28, 2006 - 8:44am [Dine in]

I went there 2 months ago to try their sushi and bought their most popular dish which was the Tokyo Roll and California Roll and we thought that was pretty good. So for my friend's small Birthday party last week we bought some party trays (second time visit). The roll taste ok because they stuffed with too many stuff which frankly overpowered the rice..just like Samurai Sushi but the sushi were tasteless for two reason...sashimi salmon, tuna weren't fresh and to make it worse the rice was tasteless.. it seems who ever made the rice was off that night, lack of vinegar and some sugar...taste very bland. So I decided to call the store to give them my feedback and right off the bat the owner (MR SUSHI GOD) upon hearing my critical feedback raised his tone and said, "you know that has been our secret recipe since we first open this restaurant and if you don't like it there is nothing I can do,". I replied, " hello MR. I'm not calling to complain so I can get free sushi replacement...ok I know when your sushi rice is off and this is definitely like that...I'm just calling you to let you know because this is not the first time we ordered from you. There's something wrong with your sushi rice, maybe whoever cooked it didn't cook it properly. I got kinda upset when he raised his tone on me and giving me this attitude. Finally he said that next time to return the sushi back and he'll replace them. I said fine but I don't live nearby.
To cut the story short, I never come back again because we all agreed that the sushi quality is just average. And there is many sushi places like that who gives a better service and no cocky attitude. If you want to go there and try, get the Tokyo Roll (instead of nori they use crepe for the wrap) and their other rolls but don't get their sashimi you'll know why ...as soon as you enter their premise. IF you've been to SAMURAI SUSHI on Cambie this place is about half the size.

Not bad for quick fix

I leave nearby this place so sometimes I ordered for take out. I do agree that their sashimi is not at their best quality or freshness. IF I go there I never ordered their sashimi, I only ordered California Roll (best deal), spicy chopped scallop, Alaska Roll, Unagi Roll or Dynamite roll. Well this place can be very overwhelming for ladies...but flr us men this is definitely the place to satisfy your crave for a sushi. Their sushi rice is not bad and always consistent. For the money this place is worth it.

One of my favorite All You Can Eat Sushi
Submitted Tuesday, March 28, 2006 - 8:04am [Dine in]

I visited the place probably 3 times last year and don't know the current condition. But I do agree that the bathroom is nasty. The service was ok...you just have to becareful when ordering popular items like salmon sashimi, shrimp tempura etc make sure you order way early because it took them time to bring to your table. All the teriyaki were fantastic. Love the beef/chicken/vege teriyaki combo. Gyoza, shrimp, vege tempura, are very good. What I like best that couldn't find anywhere else is deep fried chicken skin...just like pork rind very crispy and even better. for PARKING go to ROGERS parking...is free and just walk toward the restaurant. Sushi rice is decent, sashimi is ok I'd say it's the same quality as SAMURAI sushi...so for a buffet you can't complain. Their seafood motoyaki is also good, bbq ribs not bad either... for the money and the number of food selection... this is a much better bargain than Richmond sushi. You can have early bird dinner special for the same with lunch price $11.99. Definitely a much better all you can eat place in Burnaby compare than SUI SHA YA in Metrotown, which is the worse restaurant you can possibly go. Ck my review for SUI SHA YA.

This is the only all you can eat place that can ruin my appetite. I had been to almost every imaginable buffet places in the US - Van BC. This is definitely the worse in BC and NORTH OF AMERICA! The food quality is so horrible that after several bites i just began to lose interest in the food. Normally, in a buffet style you'd find some tasteless entrees and find something good but this is different. Bad food one after another make you tongue go numb after countless try. I went there on lunch time with my wife. Yes Shui Sha Ya Metrotown is definitely the worse off all kind of restaurant. Even the worse Casino Buffet in Vegas (Imperial Palace) still have edible food and sort of tasty. The chef must be fired! Either he lied in his resume for having some cooking experience or he must have hated his job.
