I was so disappointed with my experience It will be my last I am certain. Where to start? The Ambiance, can you say left behind in some 1970's regurgitation of a cheap rec-room or basement bar gone wrong. For crying out loud update. The Food: I love Italian food and this was not Italian Food. It was inexpensive, lacking fresh ingredients and presentation that would make it authentic Italian. Please do not call that Parmesan Cheese. it was powder like in its appearance and resembled that crappy store bought shaker cheese. Real Parmesan is from a wheel imported from Parma Italy. It is all that should be used here. This is only one item which lacks authenticity. The Pasta I had was not fresh pasta it was macaroni type pasta (hard) no fresh pasta choices. The Sauce was way too salty and also lacking any fresh ingredients. Alfredo should be made with real Italian cheese butter, heavy cream or egg yolks, fresh garlic, fresh ground pepper and a hint of nutmeg. Everything was way too generic tasted like I could get it at Boston Pizza or Pizza Hut or even from the local pizza guy. If you are going to hold the name of Ristorante Italiano for the love of Italian food please offer Italian Food, Products from Italy, Recipees from Italy or some accomplished Italian Chef (Cook) or Mom. The passion and presentation the Italians are known for would be welcome to be seen anywhere on the premises.
I have no hope of seeing change here the Restaurant is always busy and the food is inexpensive (Cheap). I am glad you have a clientelle that is not picky regarding the food they put in their mouths, but it is a slap in the face to all Italians, Italian food lovers and Restauranteurs who provide authentic Italian food.
I have enjoyed Itallian food all of my life and Paliotti's is no source for Italian Cusine ... not even close on a good day. Menu is way too busy (too may choices)and lacks Authenticity.
Sorry but it had to be said.

Finally a place to take my wife that isn't the Keg. It is so good to see a quality restaurant in Maple Ridge. It has been a while since(Ridge Bistro). My Experience started out great, my wife and I were greeted by a very pleasant young lady who took us to our table and mentioned the evenings specials. We were there to try the Hopcott supplied Beef we had heard about from friends who dined last weekend and loved it ... told us we had to go.
I had a Rib steak and my wife had the Filet Mignon. Wow It was great and cooked perfectly. I tried my wife's as well (Wow again).
The Steaks are every bit as good as we were told. I was suprised at how good the Creamed Spinach side dish was ... I never eat spinach but this tasted heavenly silky and a light hint of garlic. I'm going back just for that and I don't like Spinach. Great Food is right, Great service as well. Our server was prompt and friendly and iI am glad to report not phony. Her name was Kristin and she is a Star. Thanks Kristin. If you have not tried the New Lava Steakhouse just go... you have got to try it
