Overlooked Place
Submitted Thursday, December 30, 2010 - 1:52am [Dine in]

It's interesting how this place is right next to the Amorosa Pasta house which in the evenings gets quite busy and yet this decent Greek restaurant is almost empty. I've come here a few times now and the food is really good. Both the lamb and seafood dishes are really good and the lamb special I think on fridays is a great deal for a big portion of lamb. I guess people in the area just prefer to go out for Italian.

Best samosas I've ever had
Submitted Thursday, December 30, 2010 - 1:47am [Take-out]

I can't say I'm an expert on Indian food but so far from all the samosas I've had, this place makes the best ones. I havn't had anything else from this place but it looks like they have quite a large menu of Indian takeout for decent prices. It's just that I always pop in to get samosas and they are always amazing. I always get quick service from this place as well, great take out place in the neighbourhood.

Can I sue them for false advertising?

So on their sign and pizza boxes they say it's "the best pizza you'll ever have". Boy are they wrong. It's a salty mess in a box. Even Pizza Hut has better pizza because at least there you can taste something that's not just pure salt. I just wish there was a pizza slice joint in the area and not these crappy establishments that create "the best pizza I've ever had", emphasis on the quotation marks.

You get what you pay for...

I get their menu in my mail box once in a while and after looking at their prices I thought I should check it out. Almost everything on the menu is cheaper by 1-3 dollars compared to the other Chinese restaurants I go to. On top of that you get a 10% discount for pickup. I thought I'd try it on the way back home.

I ordered 3 items and spring rolls(2) which came out under $30. It took only about 10 minutes for my food to come out. All great so far untill I got back home to see the food. The "szechuan" beef was made with regular chilies and both the curry chicken and the beef were about 80% onions. I'm not even exaggerating, I've never seen so much onion in any dish before. I couldn't find the pieces of meat in my dishes. It would be somewhat forgiven if the dishes were actually very good but they'r not, they were bland and toned down.

I don't understand the thought process in charging people less but then filling the dish with the cheapest available vegetable. I don't mind paying a little more but having what I paid for. If you are an onion lover it might be your kind of place...

This place is different.

Normally when I go to Chinese restaurants I expect the bad service, the awful abiance, the not so clean utensils but the delicious food. This place is almost the opposite of that. By far the friendliest staff I've met in any chinese restaurant, they actually come out and talk to you. New location is great too.

The food here however is just ok, it's not memorable, it's not a place to tell your friends about. I live in the area and started going there out of convenience, but will definately not make the drive to come back when I move. It's as if there's just a little something missing to make what they produce good food. I've had better variations of practically all their dishes in other restaurants. It's all clearly westernized and inside you will often see more white people than asians, I think that says something about the place. I really like their fried green beans, but I like them in the majority of other restaurants I had them at as well.

My favourite pizza slice place
Submitted Thursday, June 4, 2009 - 5:53pm [Dine in]

I only go there when I'm on the drive which lately seems to be quite rare. Since I lived close to that area years ago, this has been my favourite place, the pizzas are pretty much the best I've had in Vancouver.

The only issue I have with this place is the price increases. It seems that 2 or 3 years ago their pizza was only $1 a slice, now it's $2. I understand food prices have increased recently but this is a little bit too much. Also, not much of an issue with this one but once in a while when I walk in they are still making the pizza and there's no much choice, it's a really popular place so that's understandable.
