ABC Country Restaurant19219 56th Avenue, Surrey
An excellent dining experience
Submitted Monday, April 30, 2012 - 5:45pm [Dine in]

My wife and I dine at this ABC on a regular basis and find it to be excellent. The staff are very friendly and attentive, and you'll never be waiting for a coffee warm up.

The main thing I have found, after dining here so many times, is the food and service is consistently good. If you like a particular menu choice, it will be just as good every time you order it. For example, I absolutely love the Mixed Grill Skillet (sans green pepper) for breakfast, and it's a treat every time. The turkey vegetable soup is also a personal favourite. Dine here enough and the staff will greet you by name and make you feel part of a family. I always leave content, filled up and with a smile on my face.

In a nutshell, all you need to know is this restaurant is clean and consistently good. It's the place to eat in Cloverdale if you want good, hearty food and friendly service!

Salty's Fish & Chips17750 56th Ave, #101, Surrey
Not a great dining experience
Submitted Thursday, April 14, 2011 - 9:55am [Dine in]

My wife and I decided to give Salty's a go as we fancied some fish and chips. We both had the two piece halibut dinner with her also having mushy peas and me six deep fried oysters. Drinks was iced tea which, I confirmed with the server, was made from some aweful powderd mix. The overcooked, thin chips were mediocre, and that is being charitable.

The bill, with tip, came to $67.00 which we both agreed was horrible value for the money. The only bright spot was our young server who was polite and attentive. But, that's not enough to make us want to return for another try. Overall, not recommended.

A Neighbourhood Gem

Cloverdale Bakery is THE go-to place for birhday cakes in my family. The cakes are wonderfully fresh and tasty, and they use real whipped cream, no artifical ingredients here. I have also bought tarts, pastries, etc from them in the past, and have never been disappointed.

The staff are always very pleasant and helpful, to go along with their fantastic food offerings. I highly recommend Cloverdale Bakery and, as a matter of fact, just phoned in another birthday cake order for tomorrow!

Stepho's Greek Taverna1124 Davie St, Vancouver
Last time, not a good experience
Submitted Friday, March 23, 2007 - 6:29pm [Dine in]

I've been to Stepho's more times than I can count, and it's almost always great if you don't mind waiting in the lineup. However, the last time I was there for lunch, it was mediocre because of the appetizers. The calamari was truly awful, hard and overcooked, which was surprising as it's normally great. The cheese balls were not as good as usual, either, but the roast lamb was delicious. I regret not sending the calamari back and tiraboukes back.
