Will NOT go back
Submitted Monday, May 17, 2010 - 9:11am [Dine in]

I had heard lots of great things about this place...authentic mexican food, patio, decent prices, so a friend and I headed over on a sunday afternoon.
We sat outside which was great but it took a while to get some menus and chips and salsa. We just wanted a snack so ordered the nachos nortenos which was clearly not a good idea (i know nachos aren't authentic mexican but we felt like it). It was a huge mess of greasy condiments with barely any chips visible. It did NOT look appetizing in the least. Actually it was really gross looking. But those are the chances you take when you go out to eat so we made our way through it.

The worst part though of the afternoon was the service. We didn't get cutlery (which was clearly needed with these nachos), water or asked if everything was ok. It also took a good 20 min for our order of drinks to arrive. When we asked for another round, the waitress basically waved us off. We had to go inside to request our drinks again, which still took another 10 minutes to get to us. No apologies, no comps, nothing.

I eat around Vancouver a lot and I haven't had such bad service in years. Even if they had the best food ever, i would never go back.

I went here after work with a girlfriend and service was great...but we were pretty much the only people in there!!
Having said that, the appis were on the small side (duck spring rolls and tempura) but the main we split was really good (brick chicken). So while i liked the idea of all the tapas i think the entrees get a passover when in my opinion that was the best part! The room was REALLY cold when we there although it was the middle of the cold snap so not really their fault. The owner/manager gave us a free egg nog and my creme brulee was replaced when i realized the crusty sugar topping was an inedible chunk of gunk! They were really good about it.

All in all a funky little spot. Would be great as a first date.

Won More Szechuan Cuisine1184 Denman, #201, Vancouver
Good Comfort Food
Submitted Tuesday, November 11, 2008 - 8:16pm [Dine in]

Good szechuan is always hard to find and Vancouver is no exception. I was told about this place several years ago and tried it when i needed to scratch my szechuan itch. I was told about the dry ginger beef which, now that i'm no longer a vegetarian i LOVE. Won more does it really well! The gai-lan and beans are great but I have to admit I haven't ventured that far away from those staples. Its not the best ambience but you are really going for the yummy food. Really tasty and not too greasy (except for the fried rice which i now stay away from). Definetely recommend it.

Hmmmm
Submitted Wednesday, August 13, 2008 - 3:55pm [Dine in]

Based on these reviews I was very much looking forward to Tequila Kitchen and while the food was solid and fresh (for the most part) the service was EXTREMELY poor. And i am usually pretty forgiving but this was particularly bad. The waitress was pleasant enough when she came by (twice the whole night) and given that we were out on a tuesday night and it wasn't packed, we were shocked. The food arrived promptly but the water, menus were slow to arrive, if they came at all. And the glass i was given was dirty. Also, no one came by to see if we wanted another drink or desert and i had to ask the busboy for the bill.
As for the food, it was decent and while the duck breast i had was so tender and moist, the sauce on top left a lot to be desired. It reminded me of that reddish/pink sauce that they serve at really low end chinese joints on top of chicken balls. I think you know the one. It was gooey and only tasted of sweetness. Nothing subtle or interesting. And the sides are really boring and i think should reflect more of a latin flavour rather than defaulting to rice and carrots. The botanas menu was way more interesting but nothing that would make me go back. I was definetely disappointed.
