Keg Steakhouse & Bar, The800 Marine Drive, West Vancouver
Mystery Meat
Submitted Sunday, September 28, 2008 - 10:14am [Dine in]

My husband, myself, my daughter attended this restaurant with our 6 year old granddaughter. Although the restaurant was almost empty, we were led to a booth facing the work station. We got moved to a better location.

My daughter's steak was full of gristle and fat and cooked rare and not the medium rare that she requested. My New York steak was medium rare and not the medium, that I requested. The first bite of my steak was full of fat and gristle as well. The side vegetable with both of our steaks was sliced tomato. My daughter had to pay extra for a very small amount of caesar salad served in an appropriate vessel.

We opened up our granddaughter's hamburger to discover that it did not consist of ground beef but chunks of high fat and slimy looking meat. We sent it back and were told by the manager that she would take it off the bill. However, she did not go so far as to remove her virgin Shirley Temple drink from the bill.

We were tired, hungry and not feeling all too well due to lack of sleep and were hoping that a nice meal with good service, ambience and good food would be a pleasant topper to a busy day. Hence, we were slow to notice the above shortcomings soon enough to take our leave before paying top prices for inferior food and service. We had to ask for water. We also notice that tops of the 3' dividing walls were covered in dust. We also noticed that the restaurant did not have a clean feel to it. The staff looked as tho they were lobotomized.

How, in heaven's name, do restaurants get away with this? We will certainly pass the word around about this experience.

Iceberg Lettuce!!???
Submitted Monday, May 12, 2008 - 10:19am [Dine in]

My family and I dined here for Mother's Day. The service was excellent. The food was okay, the salads were poor - we were insulted with iceberg lettuce and a shortage of quality add-ins.

Staff obviously try their best to provide good service but I pity them for having to make their way with trays of food and drink through the very small, crowded, waiting area through the only door to the outside eating area.

The dark decor is completely inappropriate for a casual restaurant located in this dark, dank, dismal, rainy, climate that is Vancouver.

The West End Milestones owners need to go back to the drawing board complete with a new designer who knows what he/she is doing, as well as a new chef.

Because of its location, Milestones will no doubt continue to be patronized with unsuspecting tourists, and those from the burbs, except for those of us who with discriminating tastes who have lived in the West End for many years.
