The tempura alone is worth the trip to Ebi Ten. I love it. I like the bento box/combo with the chicken teriyaki, tempura, and Cali rolls.
On the one hand, you're better off taking the food home to eat as the ambiance is kind of fast food-like and there aren't many tables, but the tempura doesn't stay crisp if you wait, so I end up munching on it on the drive home.
I thought it was just us, but after reading other reviews here, I see we are not alone in thinking this place is not good. It didn't seem so bad when we first moved here, but over the years we got to dislike a certain waitress and it seemed that we got stuck with her every time we ate here.
We finally decided last Christmas Eve we are not eating here anymore. Service was slow and bad, although you do kind of have to expect things to be backed up on a holiday, but our waitress only seemed interested in giving good service to the table of not-married-looking guys next to us.
The food just didn't seem good at all.
I don't know if a lot of people would consider this the best Greek in Vancouver, but it's our favorite place. It's never overly crowded and we like the amibiance of the place.
I love the Keftedas (meatballs), and really haven't been disappointed with anything we've ordered here. There was one time when we went for Saturday lunch and the pita bread was hard as a brick and the food wasn't as good, but I chalked that up to the cook that was working that day, rather than blame the whole restaurant.
I like the Greek salad, and love their Caesar drinks. My only complaint about the food, if it really is one, is that they leave skins on the Greek roasted potatoes. I like them better without.
But I really do recommend the place, we really like it, and it is in the coupon book.
My husband had been saying for the six years that we've been married that we should go to Anducci's sometime, and since the Entertainment Book coupon was about to expire, we went.
Big waste of time and money. Even though the restuarant was not busy, we had to wait to be seated because every empty table was full of dirty dishes. Why they hadn't already been bussed was a mystery, since there were two or three waitresses doing nothing but talking to each other.
The bread was just a hunk sitting in a plate full of vinegar and oil, the whole bottom half of it was totally soaked and soggy and it was gross. There was nothing special about the pasta. My sauce was listed as a rose' sauce, but it didn't look like any rose' sauce I've ever had. Seemed like it was basically just tomato sauce.
The food here is okay, the typical fare for a place like this, but the service is kind of lacking. They seem to ignore you after they have taken your order or brought your food.
I tried to ask for a dish to be put on a separate bill and the waitress didn't understand, or pretended not to. I mean, come on, even if Chinese is your primary language, if you waitress every day wouldn't you at least eventually learn a few key phrases such as "can I have a fork?" and "separate bill"?
My in-laws like this place, but I think it is just so-so. It's too crowded if you go on a Chinese Holiday (well, I guess most other Chinese restuarants are crowded on holidays, too), it ends up with everyone packed in like sardines.
We recently had the dinner for 8 and I thought it was a really strange assortment of food. And my husband and I are sure the lobster was not all there, like the kitchen staff had taken a lot of the meat out of the tail and kept it, then tried to cover it up with that creamy sauce they use.
We tried this place because of the coupon in the Entertainment Book. It is a bit far for us and kind of out of the way, but well worth the trip. Best fish and chips I've had since moving to Canada. Back home in the States we have beer-batter fish that is really good, and the fish and chips here all seem bland and greasy in comparison, but Pisces is almost as good. I highly recommend it.
I've only lived here 6 years, but my husband said this used to be a great place. Not anymore, in my opinion. The food is lousy and the lady who is always working in there taking your order is not that nice.
We never went back after the time that she told us it was cash only and we went ahead and ordered and said we would go to the ATM at the station down the block. I guess one of us should have stayed there, because when we got back from the ATM she had not even started our order. She didn't trust us to come back.
We had never heard of this place until someone asked me to meet them there. So we decided to give it a try while we were there. We waited until the waitress was ready to acknowledge us, but she was friendly when she finally did.
The burger was good, I'll give them that, but the fries that are supposed to be so awesome weren't very good. I don't think a single fry in our bowl was longer than an inch, just a bunch of little bits and they were soggy and stuck together.
We tried this place the other day after reading reviews here, and this is the first place I've been to where I actually liked the pho. Usually my husband gets the pho and I get the combo noodle plates everywhere we go because the broth in the pho never tastes very good to me. But I tasted his broth here and I really liked it, and next time we go I will try my own bowl of pho.
As others have said, the place could be cleaner.
The food here is okay, but nothing special. My vermicelli pork combo plate was identical to the one I had at Pho Hoa the week before, which is just across the street. We joked to ourselves that we wondered if there was a tunnel under the street connecting the two restaurants, with the same person cooking for both.
We found the atmosphere irritating. Not only was the guy who appeared to be the manager or owner messing around with a laptop right out in the dining room, there was a game being shown on big screen projection AND a loud radio blasting annoying music.
Not bad at all for food court fare. I usually get the Beef Donair platter which comes with beef, pita bread, Greek salad, and your choice of rice, potatoes, or half and half. I'm a sucker for those Greek potatoes and the portions are plentiful.
Okay if you like to sit in a place where the cleanliness is questionable, like to wait forever for your food, and like to eat hash browns that are basically big chunks of dry potato.
It seems like more of a place to go and read the paper for free, and I guess the breakfast for $2.99 is cheap enough and filling if you are really hungry.
A great little family-run place. You won't leave hungry if you order the daily specials.
Breakfast is great and cheap. As far as the specials go, the spaghetti is a good staple, and I love the Hamburger Steak. Their greek salad is big and tasty, very fresh.
The regular waitresses who have been there a long time are very friendly and efficient.
The VPD is usally there for breakfast time, and if you go on Hockey Nights, the game is usually playing.
I think this is the place that I ended up walking out of, not eating my meal and not paying for it. We went there because we had a coupon, but the service was just lousy.
There were several waitresses on duty, but none of them seemed inclined to want to actually serve anyone. We ordered our food and ordered drinks, and when the food arrived we were still waiting on my fork and our drinks. The waitress did not speak English very well or was pretending not to, and then my julienned pork meal didn't contain any pork, just little bits of fried fat.
I asked for the manager and of course there was none, I was so aggravated at the lousy service that I told the waitress to forget it, I'm not eating the meal and to bring the bill. She comped the meal, at least, and I just left.
We used to go to this place and it wasn't bad, but we quit going because the food seems to have slipped off in quality and the service it not great.
They don't seem to serve vermicelli with the combo meals, you have to order a dish of them on the side (more $) and then it seems to take forever to get the noodles. Your combo plate is getting cold while you wait for them.
The hubby and I frequent this place as often as possible. Great food, great service. Lots of items that are of the salad variety and steamed rolls for those watching the waistline.
My only complaint is that you have to ask for tea, it's not automatically served as it is in many Pho places.
I'm not a real fan of Pho because the broth always tastes like bone marrow to me, but I do like the Chicken Pho at this place. It has a good flavor.
It's a nice place to sit and eat and people watch, and the vermicelli combo platters are not bad.
The servers can sometimes be a little snooty.
