so-so dishes
Submitted Wednesday, April 18, 2007 - 8:39pm [Dine in]

Ate here with my boyfriend a few weeks back and we were greeted nicely and given a table right away. Browsing through the menu, some dishes reminded me of other places i've eaten them at and wanted to see how they differ from Azia.

I cannot compare their food to the otber places that make them. To my boyfriend and i, they seem to have added alot of sauces and flavours whereas the other restaurants offering that same dish was simply made and flavourable, without all that sauce.

The service was quite good, nothing to complain about, but the table was a little small for 2 people.

The ambiance was quite pleasant

Will i come here again? I don't know.

Juicy Pork Bun freak!
Submitted Saturday, April 14, 2007 - 11:53pm [Dine in]

My boyfriend and I adore juicy pork buns. Everytime we eat at a place that offers juicy pork buns, we order it right away to compare it to other restaurants. By far, Shanghai Wonderful and Northern Delicacy has the best shanghai juicy pork buns in richmond so far. There is a place in Vancouver that has good juicy pork buns too, somewhere on Main Street. Anyone that has other favorites, let me know!!!

Anyways, the food here was pretty good, some dishes were good, some were a little better but overall, this restaurant is worth going to. All the tables were full when we arrived there so they stuck us at a little spot but service was still good considering it being a buzy night.

I like their decor, its modern and simple. I would come back again for dinner and maybe try their lunch menu!

Close on Tuesdays! ( I found that out the hard way when i came on a Tuesday and i was starving!)

Had to wait 20mins on a weekday!
Submitted Thursday, April 12, 2007 - 10:44am [Dine in]

Ate here last week on a weekday and when my boyfriend and i got there, had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. We ordered 2 appy, an order of juicy pork buns and a main dish.
The food wasn't too bad, but i've had better elsewhere and it was a little over priced.
The ambiance was really nice and the service was quick.

I'll probably come back just to try their other dishes, cause i was so distracted by the dishes the waitresses were bringing out heheh.

what happened...
Submitted Sunday, March 4, 2007 - 8:14pm [Dine in]

I came here last night and none of the waitresses cared to ask how many people i had with me, so after 5 mins of impatient waiting i finally went up to a waitress and didn't want to share a table so my boyfriend and i had to wait for 40 mins for a table.

No one brought us a menu so i had to go up to the counter and get it myself. The tea we receive was warm and had no taste (was it reused?) We ordered the smoked fish, which was quick good, siu long bao (of course) and a noodle dish.

I was really looking forward to eating their siu long bao cause every table ordered it too! When i ate it, it wasn't juicy, the skin was thick. it SUCKED!!! After reading the previous review, now i know why, they changed the whole crew which made since. Other then Northern Delicacy, time to hunt down another place that serves up JUICY siu long bao !

Love their dumplings
Submitted Saturday, March 3, 2007 - 1:01am [Dine in]

Came here a week or so ago for a little dinner. Ordered a few plates and it was yummy but a little too oily and salty. Had their dumplings, which was DELICIOUS! I haven't tried their wonton, but im guessing is pretty similar. Now i have two places for wontons/dumplings, here and Tsim Chai Noodles on Westminster Hwy! =)

There wasn't much service because the place was 95% full but the food came quickly. The ambiance is your typicial chinese noodle/cafe places.

Not Bad Curry Lamb
Submitted Tuesday, February 27, 2007 - 10:18pm [Dine in]

Ate here with my boyfriend tonight and ordered from the afternoon menu that ends around 5:30 or something. Ordered the spicy seafood noodle and the curry lamb. It was quite tasty and rich in flavour but it wasn't spicy. Also ordered a appy as well. The food came quickly and the service was attentive. No complains, which is a good thing while eating @ a HK style cafe. Will definitely come again to try their other dishes they have to offer! =)

Nice place to relax
Submitted Monday, February 26, 2007 - 9:46am [Dine in]

Had dinner here recently and when i first walked in, i loved the decor and ambiance. It was really nice and quiet, kind of peaceful. Went through the colourful menu but only ordered 3 items because i ate before i came here. The portion of the food was somewhat reasonable but just a TAD pricey, $8 for california roll? NEVER AGAIN... Ended up paying over $40 just for 3 things. The thing i liked about the service was that they didn't rush us out, they didn't come and grab all our dishes after we were done.

Will come back here again if i ran out of places to eat around aberdeen or parker place. =)

delicious juicy pork dumplings!
Submitted Tuesday, February 6, 2007 - 12:25am [Dine in]

My dining partner and i were deciding where to eat, we narrowed it down to seventh heaven and northern delicacy. My dining partner said it looked cooler so we went here. Ordered the juicy pork dumplings, pig knuckle, 2 bowls of noodles and a veggie dish. The food was great. The dough for the dumpling was strong enough to hold the juice and yet thin enough and doesn't taste doughy like some places i've tired. Their seafood noodle was great. They had a decent amount of seafood and the noodle was chewy (hand-made) The other dishes were tasty.

Ambiance: its really simple and yet it grabs your attention. The thing i dislike about it is that the washroom is not INSIDE the restaurant, its outside...which i didn't like

Service: The service was so-so, not great and not bad. When we pai in cash, we were waiting to get our change back but it never came, we over tipped them, which i didn't feel too good about cause the service wasn't great.

lots of choices!
Submitted Monday, February 5, 2007 - 12:19am [Dine in]

Took awhile for my dining partner and i to decide what to eat cause there was lots of choices available on the menu. The food came about 15 minutes later and the portions were quite decent. The flavours on the other hand was just ok. I've had alot better. It sounds better than it taste. We also ordered the okonomiyaki which came to us a little cold and when we asked the waitress she said its suppose to be just a little warm... She asked us if we wanted to heat it up and we agreed and it came back like 2 seconds later a little warmed up.

The drink we ordered tasted like juice, couldn't taste any alcohol in it.

Overall the atmosphere is welcoming and the service is good. Might come back again to try other items off the menu.

Submitted Saturday, February 3, 2007 - 9:35pm [Dine in]

My boyfriend and i were late arriving to Provence because the traffic sucked. Anyways, we were seated within a few minutes after arriving. I ordered the seafood salad and my boyfriend ordered the herring for our antipasto, it was yummy. We shared both the lamb stew and the mahi mahi prawns plate the servings were a little small, but delicious. I had the sorbet and boyfriend had the pecan tart... i LOVED it! it was great!!! Will definitely come again!

Submitted Sunday, January 28, 2007 - 8:16am [Dine in]

Went here to try a few weeks back with my boyfriend. It took us quite awhile to decide what we want cause the prices was somewhat a little expensive compared to other places i had went. We ended up ordering a claypot rice, a korean pancake and something else, and also drinks. My boyfriend and I thought the only thing that was worth it was the drinks =) The service was pretty good as well, no complaints there but will try other korean restaurants around vancouver, richmond, burnaby and so worth before coming back. ( Would it be weird to just come to a restaurant and order drinks? hehe )

Warm little hot pot on a cold day
Submitted Sunday, January 28, 2007 - 8:09am [Dine in]

Ate here with my boyfriend on one of the nights that it was raining. We each ordered a hotpot (sizes aren't big enough to share) and had a pleasant evening. The prices are really affordable! I think there is also another location in burnaby, around willingdon and kingsway.

LOOKS good...
Submitted Sunday, January 28, 2007 - 7:31am [Dine in]

I'm usually a sucker for nice simple decor, thats what attracted me to this place the other night when my boyfrirend went to get some cash at the RBC near this restaurant. I couldn't wait to order when i saw the dishes the other tables around us. While waiting for the food, i overheard the table next to us saying that the food was bland and wasn't spicy at all. When one of the waitress left us with the confirmation of our orders, she forgot one, i mean how hard is it to put an order through a computer. I didn't bother telling her to add it since it seem hard to get the orders right.

Food: The chicken soup with bitter melon and pineapple SOUNDS so good! When i actually bit into the BITTER melon, it had almost no taste, same goes with the pineapple and there was... fish in it..
We ordered the spicy beef noodles, it was REALLY deep reddish orange and i thought it must taste good with so much msg but it was bland. The beef wrap wasn't so good either

Service: I had to ask twice to get our tea refilled, other than that it was ok, but a little slow

Ambiance: i like! =)

I love shanghai/taiwan food but this place makes it LOOK good, but not taste good. SRY!

DOV 07
Submitted Saturday, January 27, 2007 - 11:47pm [Dine in]

Tried the dine out vancouver 2007 menu tonight. The food was awesome. The ambiance was quite nice as well, along with the view of the ferry and boats. One of the downside was the service. I don't know if it was that my boyfriend and i were Asian, or our age but we were treated differently. We were somewhat ignored and when the dishes came, it was just put infront of our face, like they can't wait to get it off their hands or sth. The steak we ordered rare came perfectly and the seafood paella was good! By the time dessert came, we were full but we ended up finishing it anyways! I wonder if the other Boathouse restaurants has the same type of service or not.

Submitted Saturday, January 27, 2007 - 11:37pm [Dine in]

There is also another Au Wing Kee Restaurant around the metrotown area, and that one has been in business for a long time. I still remember when i was little, i used to go with my family and i would always order wonton noodle soup! =) I recently ate at this location and the service was good, nothing too special and the food was great for such a good price. I will definitely return. They also have great mini deals after 9pm or something =)

I thought wrong...
Submitted Monday, January 22, 2007 - 12:22am [Dine in]

I haven't been to Sun Sui Wah for a few years now and finally i decided to go with my boyfriend. The parking lot was full so we had to drive around the area to find a parking spot. The place was packed and we didn't have to wait too long till we were seated. The place was big but there weren't that many dim sum carts (i was disappointed). I looked around and saw a lot of food on other people's table, so when the nearest cart was around we waved the waitress over to see what was in it. There seemed like a decent amount of food but all there was, was 3 kinds. We took 2 out of the 3 and the portion was small. Alot smaller than other places i've been to. We ended up only ordering 3 dim sums and drank tea till we were full and it came to more than $15! Definitly not worth it. I don't know why people love this place so much. I will probably not return anytime soon.

Yummy dinner at a good price
Submitted Monday, January 22, 2007 - 12:14am [Dine in]

Went here a few times and it seemed like they changed the waitresses? Anyways, when my boyfriend and i were seated to our table, the waitress dropped down the menu and tea. The tea wasn't hot, it was just lukewarm, so after a few minutes later we finally got the attention of one of the waitress to change our tea but instead, she only brought one cup.

Ok, lets talk about the food. It was delicious. We had ordered this tofu and shrimp and clam hot pot, a veggie dish and a beef hot pot. All were delicious. We couldn't finish it all so we got them to pack it for us. The boxes were leaking the sauce and the bag had a hole on the bottem =.=" So we told her to get us another bag. But a funny thing happened, 10 minutes before we decided to leave, the lights turned off! I looked outside, it was only at Vogue.

I will return to enjoy another round of their food! ( Just hope they add in new ones, some seem similar)

Submitted Monday, January 15, 2007 - 9:23pm [Dine in]

Went to Quilon the other day with my boyfriend and we ordered chai tea right away but didn't come till our food came. We ordered the long crepe with veggie filling and the tandoori dinner. It was yummy. But we didn't get water till the beginning of our meal. Quilon is decently priced for their portions.
