Osteria Napoli1660 Renfrew St., Vancouver
Taste of Italy
Submitted Thursday, July 7, 2011 - 11:06pm [Dine in]

The restaurant was recommended by my Italian friend who, like me, is a foodie. I lived in Italy for three years and have an idea how good Italian food tastes like. I love Osteria Napoli’s fresh food and staff that made us feel at home on our first visit. Franco, the waiter, has great sense of humor and took his time to talk to us. On our two visits, we had a pleasure to talk to the hostess and she also made us feel special. The portions are pretty big and I always take some food home in order to have some room left for their dessert. Crème caramel is truly something. Ravioli in Alfredo sauce – amazing! I tried their three veal dishes and all are to die for. Washrooms are very clean. Clean white table cloths and napkins. The restaurant is like many restaurants in Italy, cozy and authentic one.

Lemon Ricotta Muffins

Every time I had coffee at Artigiano – it was delicious. Their coffee mocha is to die for; however, when I have coffee I have to have something sweet with it. Often, lemon ricotta muffins are my first pick and if fresh – they are to die for too. Unfortunately, at this location, more often than not, their muffins are not fresh and ruin my experience making me reluctant to come back again.

Cinnamon Buns
Submitted Thursday, July 7, 2011 - 10:04pm [Dine in]

Every day, when I was going to VGH, I was passing Solly's and it's advertisement of bagels and best in the city cinnamon buns made me curious….this was two years ago. Over my last few visits, I was extremely disappointed with their cinnamon buns – they were not fresh, dry, with burnt caramel sauce. I did not feel well for good couple of hours after eating them and I promised myself not to come back; however, today I took my daughter for coffee and gave into my temptation and purchased two cinnamon buns – one I consumed at Solly’s and another one I took home for my husband. Again, the buns were dry, old, with burnt, hard-candy-type caramel. Again, I had the same feeling as before – my stomach was not happy. My husband was also so disappointed that he has no desire trying these buns ever again. We had them fresh and yes, the fresh ones are the best in the city; however, lately more than often we get something that makes us forget how tasty they were.
