Pho 99 Vietnamese Noodle House403 North Road, #302, Coquitlam
Some good Pho
Submitted Friday, April 20, 2007 - 6:08pm [Dine in]

This place used to be on Kingsway near Royal Oak. It was the place I was introduced to Pho, and my friends and I went all the time. Then, one day, it was gone.

It's been 2-3 years and I found it all the way in Pinetree Village a few months ago! I was pretty happy to have the same, good food, even the same waitress who doesn't say much. But I did manage to get her to smile when I told her how happy I was to find them again!

Yes, it does smell funky sometimes....

But the food is really freakin' good. I am going to investigate into the Coastal Health thing, but I tend to get plain soup and veggie stuff, so hopefully won't be prone to some of the nastier meat bacteria?? The fact that I will still eat here despite the fact that its atmosphere literally stinks has to tell you something about the food. That, and the fact that it is always busy and they run out of chicken subs most days....and yes, do try the spring roll....

My idea of comfort food
Submitted Sunday, February 4, 2007 - 11:39pm [Dine in]

The food here is outstanding! We started with the tomato/bocconcini salad and smoked duck salad. Although the price was high for salads, they were fabulous. The DUCK was AMAZING and I will definately be trying the smoked duck pasta next time I go. For main, we had the avocado/salmon pasta and the sausage/sundried tomato pasta. Again, they were outstanding, and the portions generous. Wine list is extensive. This place is a gem, but don't be expecting amazing decor - if anything, it needs a new take on interior design!

I liked the place - the staff was nice and the decor fabulous.....but the food was NOTHING to write home about. WAY overpriced for what you got, I was completely unimpressed and will probably never return.

Visit here!!

If you're in Yaletown looking for an inexpensive treat, go see Faye! The service is INCREDIBLE - the girls there will remember your name, the way you like your coffee, and I swear your SIN # if you told them. Must trys include the low-fat cinammon buns, cappuccinos, and the soup/sandwich. Just a few doors down from Starbucks, do yourself a favour and go here instead.

Love the burgers
Submitted Thursday, August 17, 2006 - 1:33pm [Dine in]

I have always been served juicy and fresh burgers here. I love the array of toppings - my fave has to be the bacon cheese with sauteed mushrooms, onions and all the veggies! It goes well with a chocolate shake. The poutine is also awesome, tho I always ask for the gravy on the side to avoid soaked fries. Serving sizes are enough that two people can eat well off a single burger, order of fries, and one shake. Alas, haven't been there in a LONG time in order to preserve my health ;)

I REALLY like this place. It's no Tojo's, but it's a lot cheaper and user-friendly. The Nabeyeki Udon is a treat, try it! Service is great, really friendly. I always went at around 2:00pm which was nice since it wasn't that busy at that time.

Great place to go!!
Submitted Thursday, August 17, 2006 - 1:08pm [Dine in]

My fiance and I love to come here. the place is small and inviting, and the staff is warm and friendly. The food is just as good as any of the higher profile Thai places, and the prices are about what you might expect. Try the lettuce wrap, green curry, and cashew chicken! The lunch specials are also worth checking out.

Sometimes you just want...lots of pasta...
Submitted Thursday, August 17, 2006 - 1:02pm [Dine in]

If you don't feel like cooking for, say, the next 4 days, then come here. Most of the time, I can't stomach Anton's, the food is so-so, and if you get too close to the bathrooms there's a disturbing mix of garlic and urine wafting from them.....BUT, once in awhile, maybe twice a year, I go there. The penne Filippo is good, as is anything with the creamy tomato sauce. I am also a big fan of the creole pasta....that being said, I was there a few months back and can't see myself returning for another few months at least....

Good place for great pizza!
Submitted Thursday, August 17, 2006 - 12:52pm [Dine in]

I have been coming here since I was fairly young, and I am glad that the food has remained delicious. YES, you have to WAIT, but that's what happens when you bake fresh dough in a wood burning oven and not over direct heat in a pan in an oven!! Try the calamari, chef salad, and a pizza (1/2 Siciliana and half Caprese!). Their pasta is pretty darn good, too!

Not bad!
Submitted Thursday, August 17, 2006 - 12:48pm [Dine in]

We decided to go here one night (as we work our way through all the places on the Drive) and were really pleasantly surprised. The place looks a little run down and dingy, but the food was fresh and prices excellent. We had a filling meal, and left happy...

Try to visit here if you can. It's tiny, but the ambience is fabulous. The food was good and the prices fairly reasonable....I really liked the chicken lime soup with corn tortillas, but avoid if you are watching your sodium intake....ENJOY!!

Hot night in Havana
Submitted Thursday, August 17, 2006 - 12:39pm [Dine in]

Mid July, heat wave, could only get a table inside.....it was DAMN hot and the waitress kept forgetting to bring up water!! Food was OK, but overall wasn't impressed, especially after all the hype I had heard about it.
