Yummy House33082 1st Ave, Unit A, Mission
It's the Chinese Mcdonald's
Submitted Wednesday, December 28, 2011 - 1:57am [Take-out]

This place used to be in The Real Canadian Superstore before moving to 1st Ave.

Food is decent. It's usually been sitting there for a little while, as this is mostly pre-made chinese sitting in the warming trays waiting for you to choose what you would like.

The (owner?) is really nice, always welcoming and friendly when you enter, if he's behind the counter. Will happily offer you a taste of anything your looking at getting.

That being said they fill up your styrofoam trays with lots of food. Everything I've tried has been really good, nothing bad.

If you want fast chinese take-out, this is place to go to.

Forgot the meat in the burger!
Submitted Wednesday, December 28, 2011 - 1:48am [Dine in]

Yup, you read right, they forgot the meat in my moms burger! Now this had happened to me once, at McDonalds, where it really wasn't a huge surprise. But a sit down restaurant that's not fast food? And a NEW restaurant at that? I was really looking forward to eating here, a brand new place in little Mission. What a disappointment.

The server seemed indifferent to the obviously stupid oversight. Simply returned it and brought back a burger with meat.

The food itself was barely passable, and the prices were too high for what you get. (or don't get)

And there was no "Sorry about forgeting to put the meat pattie in your burger" or any apology whatsover. What a waste of money and time. And of course no percent taken off the bill.

I've told everyone I know, and I will never return. It's a great location right on 1st Ave. in Mission. Let's hope this place is gone and replaced with a great restaurant instead.

O.K
Submitted Wednesday, December 28, 2011 - 1:36am [Dine in]

I've probably visited here roughly 20 times.

Food is decent, price is decent, and service is decent.

Nothing great. I did have one bad experience where the (owner?) sat there ignoring me while chatting on the phone. After about 10 minutes of him chatting away he finally came to help me. No sorry, nothing. I wasn't impressed to say the least.

I only go here if it's convienent.

Embers BBQ House32559 Logan Ave, Mission
Just O.K.
Submitted Wednesday, December 28, 2011 - 1:30am [Dine in]

I've been here a handful of times. It's a tiny little place, tucked behind/off of the main street in Mission.

The food is decent, nothing to write home about. I figured it a little pricey for portion size and the flavour wasn't that great.

They do have delicious fresh baked bread that I enjoyed very much. But that was about it. I felt that I could make everything else (especially the ribs) much better at home.

Might go back to try a sandwich but the BBQ I'll leave to myself and spouse.

Best sushi in Mission
Submitted Wednesday, December 28, 2011 - 1:24am [Dine in]

This is by far the best place for sushi in Mission.

The place itself is nice, booths, but fairly roomy.

The food is always solid. I've been going here for years, and I can say the food is certainly delish, and not only for 'califonia roll' lovers only. In fact, I hate California rolls, I'm a fan of the Spicy Tuna rolls and they are good.

The lunch specials are great, and you get a nice amount of food for the money.

The servers have all been friendly, attentive and on the ball. I'll keep going back.

Best dumplings you will ever eat!
Submitted Wednesday, December 28, 2011 - 12:26am [Take-out]

My family and I have been going to this place for over 10 years. It's probably been about 7 years since we've actually sat down and ate.(inside) When we did though, the food was delish.

Nowadays we live approx. an hour and a half from Vancouver, but we ALWAYS get an order of their pan fried dumplings while in Vancouver. Probably once a month. I know. Addicted. They are large, fresh, hot, juicy and bursting with flavour. I want some. Now.

Go ahead an order some, you won't be dissapointed!

Pretty good!
Submitted Thursday, October 21, 2010 - 8:38am [Dine in]

Went here on a sunday when they had the wings on sale. We ended up with three different kinds, a dozen each. The wings were really good. Not dry and full of flavour. We has the salt and pepper, Louisiana sweet (slighty spicy) and the greek. All were delicious. We also tried one of the jerk and it was good too. ($1 just to try one flavour) We also ordered the "texas fries.' Wasn't impressed. Basically some frozen fries with lots of spice, jalpenos and toppings with a side of bbq sauce to dip them in. They weren't bad tasting, in fact pretty good but something you can easily make at home and certainly not worth the nearly $8 price.
They were fairly busy, lots of families. We were two adults with a child. Our server was really friendly, attentive and answered our questions. We all had pops to drink, which are bottomless. In total our bill came to about $37, without tip. We all left stuffed and satisfied. A good expierence and we will be returning.

Lots of food for cheap!
Submitted Thursday, August 19, 2010 - 2:28pm [Dine in]

Went here yesterday with my another person and my two kids. The lady was nice, pushing two tables together so we could all fit at the same table. She was hard to understand but that isn't a big deal. We were given complimentary edamame while we waited for our food to come. The food came quickly. We ordered two chicken bento boxes ($7 bucks) and a deep fried cali roll. I substituted a spicy tuna roll in my box. The chicken in the bento box was a little fatty and soggy for my tastes. The miso soup was good and so was the spicy tuna roll and deep fried cali roll. The food wasn't outstanding, but it was filling and cheap. The place itself is tiny and old looking, with no ambiance, but we spent most of our time eating while staring out the window. I will certainly be back for some fast, cheap sushi.
