Boring, overpriced, crappy wine and beer , small portions STAY AWAY
Submitted Wednesday, November 30, 2011 - 2:15am [Dine in]

Just had dinner here it was probably the worst mean in terms of quality and price I have had in a long time.
These old commercial places are just TOURIST TRAPS for suckers. Overpriced you can get way better food for 1/2 the price on Main or other locations. Crappy house wines, fatty meats, with some salty sauce on them. Boring and 3/4 empty place. Sad.

Don't bash the whippy doo!
Submitted Thursday, October 22, 2009 - 8:31am [Dine in]

Well I see a lot of people are bashing the whip here, its not that bad. I only go for Brunch mind you, the menu IS very limited, but they have a small south facing patio which is rare if not non existant on main, the server's are very nice to me and my GF. But this is MAIN, its more of a tattoo and spiked hair joint, then a sit down with granny place. That something most people forget about Main , its not Kerrisdale, you can roll into the Whip hungover with your cop glasses on, chill in the sun, have your $8 breakfast and just enjoy a bit of variation in your life. I don't love it, but it is in my BRUNCH rotation.

Dimsum Only!
Submitted Thursday, October 22, 2009 - 8:22am [Dine in]

I pound way too much of their dimsum then is good for me. But I must say they have a very nice dimsum menu, best around main I've had and the price is cheap $2.50 an item. So for $12 a person you can stuff yourself on steamed prawns, sticky rice, pork dumplings and all the other yummy stuff thats probably gonna kill you haha. I would never go here for dinner its Dim SUM only and the place is PACKED HOUSE with Chinese people so you know they do it good here, no lowfan lemon chicken crap from these guys. Real bucktooth, bad skin, fresh off the boat chinese dimsum.

Fastest Organic No Trans Fat Benny in Town!
Submitted Thursday, October 22, 2009 - 8:15am [Dine in]

Been here 20+ times.

Why I go:

- Excellent Latte's in BIG cup.
- Extremely fast no trans fat bennys for dirt cheap very well done
- Decent potatoes
- Wicked fruit cups of fresh fruit for $3 or something

Overall a healthy breaky for $10 very very fast and cheap. Everyone loves it.

The CON

They jam you into a chair so small you need gymnastic skills to get in and out, and your literally sitting WITH your neighbors as they are less then 1 foot away if that. Minefield of tables. The price of popularity, haha, and people suck it up for this food. Often a small line on weekends.

This place ONLY does brunch - so don't try to go for dinner.

Have to know what to order
Submitted Thursday, October 22, 2009 - 8:09am [Dine in]

Okay I live on Main and THE MAIN is one of the places I go. Like most places in town you can only order 1 or 2 items that they make well, the rest is crap. So I order 2 things here 1) the lamb shoulder and 2) the roast chicken. Both are about $16 I think, and if you like lamb or chicken they are good. The roast chicken is 1/2 a REAL chicken with potatoes and greek salad. Mmmm mm and filling. The rest of the menu is crap from what I recall. Their wines also suck haha. The ambiance is sort of picnic bench like, very basic. Sometimes they have live music, but its more of a Pub feel then restaurant. Oh you can also get the Souvlaki which is decent. Essentially potatoes and greek salad - with your choice of meat is what to get here.

Party Place with meh food
Submitted Thursday, October 22, 2009 - 8:02am [Dine in]

If your looking for a lively party like place to have drinks the reef is great place. The food is very hit and miss, the lamb burger was greasy and ugh, the goat curry is horrible. The chicken is nothing I can't make at home etc. Its best if your in the basket of break, nachos, and drinks mood then a delicious meal. If you stick to chicken wings and stuff you can't really go wrong.

Caffe Barney2528 Main St, Vancouver
Only for brunch
Submitted Thursday, October 22, 2009 - 7:57am [Dine in]

Ive been to Barneys about 10 times, always for brunch around 11-1pm, and I never order anything outside that menu. Coffee, water, and a benedict or breakfast burrito etc. Its about $10 per item. The servers are random, some are bitchy some are very nice. I never have to wait much for a place to sit or food, some more popular places are packed out the door, never here. The food is more then enough I rarely finish my food. A decent place when you want food now, I tend to go there over other greasy spoons in the main area.
