Chaise Lounge4444 Main St., Vancouver
The Best Food for the Best Value on Main
Submitted Sunday, December 5, 2010 - 3:20pm [Dine in]

Since moving into the area about six months ago, my girlfriend and I have eaten at Chaise Lounge at least a dozen times. I really can't say enough about the value and quality of the food. The burgers are gigantic and always amazing. They are juicy, well spiced, and the accompanying fries are plentiful and always cooked to perfection. They have interesting and affordable specials every day. From their super hot chicken wings to their pierogi with sausage and onion, the specials are always cheap and tasty.

The service is very professional, friendly, and never rushed. They always seem to know exactly when you need a refill on a drink or when you'd like the bill. The barman is is also very affable and always greets you with a smile.

The atmosphere is relaxed yet trendy. It's a really comfortable place to sit down after a day of work and have a beer and an excellent meal. There are plenty of tables and many plush booths.

Overall, this is my favourite and most frequented eatery on Main.

Excellent Greek and Nice Atmosphere

I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki and my girlfriend got the Kalamari dinner. Both were prepared very well with decent portion sizes. Actually, her Kalamari was some of the best I’ve ever had. I could have used a bit more chicken, but that’s only a minor complaint. The service was very good. The waitress was polite and attentive. The ambiance was great. Even though the bar was crowded and there was a band playing, we still felt we were able to enjoy an intimate meal looking onto Main Street. Plus, the band covered “Chocolate Jesus” by Tom Waits, which was a nice surprise.

Dissapointingly Bland

I've been to the reef a number of times over the last few years and have always enjoyed my food. Last evening I ordered the Rosehall Rundown and was completely disappointed. The coconut/tomato broth tasted like luke-warm mayo, the seasonal vegetables amounted to a few roughly cut, undercooked peppers, and the tilapia was overdone and soggy. Do not order this dish unless you can't stand spicy food. I definitely feel that my $15 was wasted. I tried my girlfriend's Mission Tacos, priced at $9, and instantly became jealous.

From now on I will stick to their more flavourful jerk dishes. Other than that, the service and ambiance were acceptable as always, but they really need to turn the tacky "world-music" down.
