We are some of Happy Date's most loyal customers. The appearance of the restaurant may not be very appealing, but for those who love Chinese food, this is somewhere you should go. I think it is more of a "going with family and friends" restaurant than a fancy "take you boss out to dinner" restaurant. The food is great, but the service is amazing. All the dishes will arrive before your second sip of your drink. If you are ever in Richmond and don't feel like doing any dishes, go to Happy Date. Your stomach and wallet will be satisfied!

We went to this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. First, the whole restaurant was full, so we had to wait 45 minutes before being seated. Our server took a long time to take our drink orders and she was very impatient. The bread basket was full of stale bread so we refused to eat it. The appetizers were just as expensive as the pasta, but came in very small portions. The huge portion of pasta is perfect for sharing, so I recommend you don't order too many servings. Overall, the slow service, noisy surroundings, decent food and miniature-sized appetizers is a great reason for us to never return.
