King's Kitchen22425 North Ave, Maple Ridge
gone downhill since they upgraded
Submitted Wednesday, March 12, 2008 - 1:51am [Dine in]

Used to eat at Kings a lot and unfortunatley due to their success they have sacrificed quality food for modernization. Since the restaurant has been upgraded the ambience and decor is much nicer but unfortunatley the food in taste and quality has suffered. I would not reccomend this restaurant. Its okay still but better is to be had at other establishments in the Ridge.

China Kitchen Restaurant22805 Lougheed Hwy, Maple Ridge
this is a good choice for chinese buffett

I eat at the China Kitchen quite often and have always been satisfied with the overall buffet selection and service. One of the main reasons I enjoy this chinese buffet over others is that while the offer the traditional dishes they also offer some that are not so traditional. Calamari, Chicken in Curry Sauce, Singapore rice Noodle to name just a few that spring to mind. They also have probably the best wonton soup I have ever eaten anywhere. There is a salad bar as well, agian somewhat non-traditional for chinese buffet as well as a small selection of Sushi. I highly recommned this restuarant for both their lunch and dinner menu. You can also order alacarte as well here if you wish.

myself and my wife recently had dinner at the lava room. we were greeted cordially and promptly seated. Our server was friendly and informative with the specials. I ordered the ribeye steak and my wife ordered the stuffed chicken special. We ordered the calamari appetiser which was nice and light and pleasantly presented. Our main course arrived in a somewhat of a timely fashion but our side dishes were about 5 minutes later. the steak was good and cooked appropraitely though the meat was not as warm as I would have liked. My wifes chicken was very good according to her. The side dishes as well as arrriving late were bland in taste and the plate presentation was very poor. Basicaly scalloped pototoes in a plate as well as a garlic mushroom side dish. Both were very poorly presented, basically just in a side dish with no garnih whatsoever. The ambience of the restaurant was good but if the lava room is trying to introduce up scale dining to Maple Riodge I'm afraid they have they have failed. I will try this restaurant agian in some time and hopefully they have increased there standards particulary in plate presentation and timely service. If your going to ofer a side dish menu it would be wise to get the food to the table all at the same time. Main courses were good guys but work on getting it all to the table at the same time and colour it up a bit for eye appeal.

good luck..
