Mondo Vino Wine Bar12251 No. 1 Road, Richmond
unbelieveable deal
Submitted Wednesday, May 6, 2009 - 9:20pm [Dine in]

Tuesday night in the winebar next to Papi's they have a food and wine tasting. Usually 4 to 5 tasting plates matched with a 3oz pour of 4 or 5 wines. A wine maker or on one evening that we went, they had an agent describe each wine and why it works with the tasting plate. It was a very social evening and my girlfriend and I have now been to three events. All this for only $25.00!!!! From the looks of it they have a very regular group who always attend. It is limited seating so it's best to call ahead.Very good value and excellent food.

Pied-a-Terre3369 Cambie Street, Vancouver
improved
Submitted Sunday, April 19, 2009 - 10:34am [Dine in]

Went to have dinner last week with my daughter. This was my third visit, I must say that the food was much better then my other two visits. I am a big fan of La Buca, the simple style but with a creative edge.Pied-a-Terre almost seems too simple, classic bistro food but no wow factor. The Steak Tartare was great but the classic Endive salad had chunks of very firm Blue cheese vs. Roquefort as the menu had stated. The Foie Gras parfait was very good. The baked Mussels were flavourful but oily. The server was very attentive and friendly even after we came in later in the evening and only wanted to shares four starters. The room is small but very comfortable with a nice buzz when busy.

arrogant attitude
Submitted Thursday, January 29, 2009 - 10:30am [Dine in]

A friend of mine was in from London England, he's currently the Chef of a great restaurant there. We called two more Chef friends plus my lawyer, headed for an evening out. We went to Boneta on my suggestion. We were all dressed very casual if that matters. We were greeted at the door by the host/manager/owner? who was almost over friendly to the point of irratating me.Talking to us like we were old friends, really over the top. The out of towner spoke up and said he was paying the bill then asked for a great bottle of red possibly a Zin. He told us that he had a perfect wine for us from Italy. Returning he brought a red that was both average and on the low end of the price list. Maybe he thought this was all we knew about wine. My buddy turned to me and asked "is this considered a great wine here in Vancouver?" The server was friendly and did offer some suggestions. The food was priced reasonably until we saw the portion sizes..small. All the dishes were flavourful and well presented. We really felt rushed and not welcome our entire visit.Even with all the good press I woundn't return.

Vera's Burger Shack7999 Granville Street, Vancouver
avoid this location
Submitted Saturday, January 17, 2009 - 12:10am [Dine in]

I love the Vera's in Kits. I was very happy that one opened closer to my home. The quality of this location is horrible from the rudest staff to the inconsistent food.I've been six times each time hoping they would pull it together, never once has my order been correct.I even gave it a couple of tries after their renovations, it still is way below average. The owners need to re-think this location. Cause it really is one to avoid.

still consistent
Submitted Wednesday, January 7, 2009 - 1:33pm [Dine in]

Returned to the restaurant after a long period. The food is still good.We always have the hot and sour soup with prawns, the crab rolls and any of the crispy dishes, wings or calamari. The place was very busy at Sunday lunch.Food was served unbelieveably fast maybe a little to fast as our table was overcrowded with everything at once. The servers could be a little friendlier.Over all a good experience

Campagnolo1022 Main Street, Vancouver
great food
Submitted Wednesday, January 7, 2009 - 1:27pm [Dine in]

We had the chance of eating twice at Campagnolo. Although they have only been open a short time both experiences were great. The food was consistently very good especially the Ceci, chickpea salad, the octopus salad and pizza. Staff was warm and friendly. A great addition to the Vancouver dining scene. The only negative is the dodgy neighbourhood.
