It is still my top choice restaurant on the beach, period
Submitted Sunday, February 25, 2007 - 4:48pm [Dine in]

It's been awhile since my last visit to Senses. I generally enjoy going down to the beach in off season, because that's the only time we can find a parking space and without another 50-people crowd surrounding you. Went back to Senses last weekend to enjoy a wonderful dinner. We especially like this kind of restaurants where you don't have to dress up formally to enjoy a high quality dinner, we felt relax and comfortable there. The decoration is thoughtfully laid out, and the atmosphere is rather warm and romantic, wife loves it.
Started with a few martini's, which we didn't have a chance to try last time. They were smooth and tasty, before we realized, both my wife and I had 3 for each of us already.

Then we moved on to the tapas, no surprise, they were as good as last time. In fact they've got better! We didn't hesitate to ask the server for some recommendation, she provided a couple like the pan-seared black cod, pork saddle tender tower, curry mussels, Oh My God, they are simply to die for. The black cod was so soft it literally melts in you mouth, it's that good. The curry, I was told it's their own secret recipe, is one of a kind, I personally haven't tried a curry dish tastes as good, but I have to warn you, the curry is quite spicy, if you can't take spicy dishes, then I wish you luck. We felt guilty because we couldn't stop ordering more and more. We ended up only able to share one molten chocolate cake, although we were already full, but it was just too good to pass. If only we could vote for another star on the food rating!

Poor service
Submitted Friday, October 27, 2006 - 8:35pm [Dine in]

Went there just last night to see what's the hype all about. Ambiance was decent but not great. It was probably late so it wasn't too busy but we still waited for 15 minutes before the server came over to take our drink order. The food came out slow as I think due to they are lack of staff. Ordered crab cake but the server told us they ran out of them 15 minutes later, no biggie. All the dishes were decent except those 2 most expensive dishes, the salmon and the lamb chops, both of them all overcooked and dried, haven't have a dry lamb chops before. Wanted to order some more food but waited for another 20 minutes and still no server came by so we decided to go to the cashier to ask for our bill. Pretty bad service

Slightly overrated
Submitted Sunday, October 15, 2006 - 7:47pm [Dine in]

Just had a dinner with family there tonight. The place was clean and tidy with well suited servers, which gives you the feeling you are in a nice high end restaurant. They have a nice long wine list to choose from which is always a plus. Food had good presentation but lack of amazing taste to match. I ordered the salmon but it turns out pretty dry and over cooked, something you wouldn't expect when you are paying for that price. Their organic dishes were nothing to rave about either. Service were only alright if only he didn't keep checking the next table instead of ours. After all it is an alright restaurant but I surely would expect something better for the price we paid. Maybe we should've stick with Senses, which has better food and half the price

First of all, tapas tree is one the better tapa place in can find in Vancouver. We were amazed that the price wasn't expensive at all consider the food quality and it's on Robson. The portions were small and the price were low, which means you can order a whole bunch of different dishes without clearing your wallet. Every dish was tasty, definitely going back.
Although, they were pretty busy last time we went there, service was kinda lacking, can't really blame them though

The name got us to visit
Submitted Saturday, October 14, 2006 - 11:43pm [Dine in]

To be honest. the name of the restaurant did get use curious about this place. When we first got to the front door, the black cloth / menu in middle really caught our attention. As we sat down we were so eager to try everything on the menu, which is not alot btw. We tried to order some wine to match our tapas, what surprised us is that they didn't have a wine list, nor did the server know anything about the wine that they carry, it wasn't even funny. Ordered a whole bunch of tapas and all of them have nice presentation but lack of delicious taste. Spent 150 bucks on food onlny and we weren't even half way full, I wouldn't complain if the food were delicious.

Boathouse Restaurant, The14935 Marine Drive, White Rock
Below expectation

When you think of seafood, "boathouse" always pop up in most people 's mind. Went in Boathouse white rock for a quick lunch bite, looked at the menu and I thought the price reflects the quality of food, NOT THE CASE! Waited at the door for awhile to get noticed when there was only one table present. Ordered the calamari and it came 20 minutes later, gosh was it crappy. A seafood restaurant couldn't cook a simple calamari really caught me by surprise. Didn't bother to return the dish caz I didn't want to wait for another 20 minutes. Probably not going back to try again

Very pleasant experience

Tried it awhile ago due to friend's recommendation. A nice comfortable atmosphere. Server was very professional, she knows what she was talking. Dishes are VERY small, not that I have a problem with that as long as they taste good. Opened a bottle of wine which sucks, not their fault but mine, should've chosen a higher end one instead. The dishes are delicious! Specially the special they had that night, some kinda of beef belly, absolutely the BEST beef dish I've had in my life. Definitely go back, when I save up enough. Kinda expensive but it's worth it.

Great place!

Great dishes, actually excellent dishes. The place is packed all the time, so having a group of 6 might have a big problem to find an available table. Too bad it doesn't take reservation but that's understandable

Highly recommended
