Food is okay, service is horrible
Submitted Saturday, November 26, 2011 - 12:13am [Dine in]

I've eaten here three times and also purchased take-out twice. The prices are on par with average... they have the usual miso-soup with California roll discount combos. The sushi is average as well, not great but not that bad. They're a little on the small side.

The service is the main negative. Both the woman and the man behind the counter are somewhat unfriendly. I don't usually care about service but they are noticeably standoff-ish.

It is usually pretty quiet when I've been there.

Alright

I ate breakfast here, and the place was practically empty. I liked how it was quiet and spacious, but it was a little cold.

There was only one waitress, who did her best but had to run around since she took orders, seated people and dealt with the bill.

The food was alright. The sausage and the eggs were fine. The green onion potato pancake was rather bland, like it was hardly fried or anything. The prices are on par with places like ABC Restaurants, Denny's, White Spot, or IHOP. I would rate the food quality close to IHOP or slightly less than ABC. None of these are that great.

Lukewarm food
Submitted Monday, July 26, 2010 - 12:22am [Dine in]

The prices were not that low, but I didn't mind since it was in Gastown. However, I was rather surprised when the food came, and the beans and the rice were only lukewarm. The decor was supposed to be atmospheric, but it looked run-down and didn't feel that clean. Overall, very disappointing especially with the food temperature even though it was a pretty slow evening.

I Cafe2525 Heather Street, Vancouver
Solid HK Cafe
Submitted Monday, July 26, 2010 - 12:12am [Dine in]

This place is very consistent... it's reasonably comfortable for a HK-style cafe, and the food is solid. The afternoon tea meals are better value than dinner, since they include the hot beverage. The portions are regular, not huge like in some HK-style cafe, but richer and better in quality. I would definitely recommend this place for a casual meal.

Not great value
Submitted Monday, July 26, 2010 - 12:04am [Dine in]

I remembered going to Pannekoek House when I was a kid, saw this one and tried it. I had the pancake with the eggs and sausages on it.

The pancake was fine, but less special than I remember it. It was a little overpriced... don't bother with the orange juice. It wasn't worth it. The inside of the restaurant had a hint of cigarette smell, probably from back when restaurants had smoking sections. The service was rather slow even though only three tables were occupied.
