Everything in the room is perfect - from the chandeliers and black and white tiled floors, to the antique tea cup my americano came in, to the funny old post-card the bill came attached to... it's nice that the details matter to these guys, and they nail them.
The Maître d' is superb. Knows exactly when to be at the table with something witty to say, and when to hang back. He's perfect. It's like he was born for that restaurant.
The food is alright - it's nothing like le Crocodile or Pied-à-terre, but it's not priced like them either, and it's pretty good for what it is. I had a salad nicoise, which i enjoyed, but i was surprised to find tinned tuna in my salad. That's not something i go out to eat. That being said, the pear tart tatin was awesome. Light flakey pastry, french vanilla ice cream... Delicious.
All in all, I'll go back. Many times I'm sure.

I was VERY surprised to read the other reviews for this restaurant!
I took my mother to this restaurant for lunch, followed by a walk through the beautiful Van Dusen Gardens, and it was wonderful. I had a fresh and delicious salmon with a crab sauce, and she had a classic quiche.
The ambiance is amazing, the service is unpretentious and reliable, and the food is superb. Coupled with the stunning gardens and ample free parking, it's somewhere I can't wait to go again.
