A Little Something Special in the Ridge
Submitted Thursday, March 13, 2008 - 8:09pm [Dine in]

We went there when it was the Lava Room and enjoyed ourselves. They've changed their name & menu to reflect amazing local products and upped the anti with cloth table cloths and customized chocolates with your bill. The servers are quick to point out that the meat is from Hopcotts, the salmon from Bruce's and the Gelato from Marina's. You can stick to the hundred mile diet while eating out in Maple Ridge:)

Has Great Potential

we will keep going back because we've seen other good restaurants in maple ridge fail because of lack of support. we believe all the ingredients are there, but maybe a lack of experience is holding it back. a refreshing replacement to the local pub. sports in the lounge, decent food, pleasant service and an interesting sounding menu.

the menu looks great but the product lacks in execution. for example the steak neptune sounded great but the seafood was not fresh & the steak was thin. the mango chicken wings sounded great, but lacked in flavour. we think they could try a simplier approach and get better results. smaller portions but promote fresh local product - pitt meadows blueberries, hopcott meat, bruce's salmon, chilliwack corn etc. and make the flavours count.

their HOT wings are HOT - they should put out a big banner boasting of their ability to rival any local hot wings and they'd have people filling up the lounge to watch sports, eat wings and guzzle back some beers.

we hope they are successful.

we've been here for dinner several times. each time the food has been very good. the service has been painful at times, and even rude (we haven't been back for some time). having 4 out 5 people severed with the 5th persons soup missing in action for over 20 minutes and serveral requests; coming out with 2 out of 4 desserts and then announcing that they are all out of the other 2 but not offering to get something else. the chef is great, but we say to the service staff "Your Fired!"

Cafe Latte!
Submitted Saturday, August 25, 2007 - 11:16pm [Dine in]

we've only been their for breakfast - either sit down with the family or take out on our way for a walk with the dogs. it is a breath of fresh air for a morning treat. the restaurant is clean, well lite, nicely laid out - with a view of the chef as he cooks. very modern, very friendly, with quality food. the latte's are worth the wait - putting Starbucks to shame. Go Green!

great for breakfast - only meal we have ever had there. very basic - but basic done very well. kids love it; prices are very reasonable; service is quick and pleasant. central to maple ridge; if the residents of maple ridge don't support restaurants like this then we don't deserve to have them in our city.
