We decided to try Lava after being told about the 45 minute wait at The Keg (we were craving a steak dinner). I live in Vancouver and eat out frequently and cannot remember the last time I had such a delicious meal and truly exceptional dining experience. We were greeted by an incredibly friendly waiter/manager who set up a table by the window for us. We were brought and "amuse bouche" of mushroom tart which we happily inhaled. We started with the bruschetta and fish cakes and it was followed by a chorus of "yum, that was delicious!" We each had a steak-my date had the ribeye and I had the tenderloin. Both were cooked to perfection for our preferences. The meals were substantial and full of flavour. We shared the sticky toffee pudding for dessert and it was the perfect way to end the meal. The bill may well have been the biggest surprise of all. For our appies, meals, dessert, and two drinks each, we paid a little over $100. Most chain restaurants are a similar price, but would pale in comparison. For this city girl, the drive to Maple Ridge is worth the trip!!!
