We go here about 2-3 times a month for their happy hour or late night menu (a+b), and have never been disappointed. The service is always efficient, the food comes fast and everything is always tasty. The servers are sometimes rushed, but always nice. I've never had anyone be rude, then again, I've never been rude to any of them, so I guess you get what you give. For the price, you get a huge selection and there is nothing I'd complain about. Could the food or service be better? possibly, (hence the less than perfect rating) but not for what they charge. If you want everything to be stellar, go to temaki up the street. It'll cost you 20-25$ to get full but the servers will have time to talk to you and explain everything, and every item is very well done. The washrooms could use a bit of attention, but I basically consider this fast food.

Some of the best food I've had in a while

I went to this restaurant for the first time today, and I was beyond impressed. First off, the menu is if not all, then mostly organic. For those of us that choose to avoid eating pesticides and chemicals this is a HUGE plus. The ambiance is a little... rustic but charming none the less. The service was friendly and helpful, and I don't know why anyone would say their menu is overpriced (although we did just go for lunch. Maybe their dinner menu is a lot more expensive?). We found the prices and portions to be very reasonable, when you consider the quality of ingredients they use. I suppose some people are used to eating cheap food at cheap restaurants, and don't understand the cost associated with eating 100% organic. Now, the food-
We had the lentil soup-4$ - Very tasty, and it came with a big slice of organic bread with organic butter.
The stuffed french toast-13$- two HUGE sliced stuffed with raspberries and cream cheese. Served with whipped cream and real maple syrup. Absolutely delicious!
The Spanish banks breakfast burrito-12$- came with fresh salsa and spinach, as well as a big pile of potatoes and a large salad. The portion was so big we had to take half of it home
The bbq chicken wrap- 14$- large portion of organic chicken, also came with the potatoes and salad. My husband Said it was one of the best meals we've eaten out.

I've always heard mixed things about this place, and finally decided to check it out. We came here with a group of 5 and between us we had the lasagna, the salmon roll, the lox and bagel, the broccoli salad, The tomato salad, the fruit salad, and the vegetable sandwich. For dessert we had the trifle, the black forest cake, and the lemon marangue tart. The server kept leaving us to get things for other people (even though there were other workers behind the counter that weren't doing anything) and she gave use pieces of our order one at a time. Then she just dropped the rest on a tray and passed it over the counter without even offering to bring it over to our table. The bill was about 80$ for everything.
now, the food...
lasagna- A microwaved, soggy puddle.
Salmon roll- Also microwaved, and quite greasy.
Lox and bagel- Lox was decent quality, but it had obviously been left out uncovered for too long.
Broccoli salad- Decent flavor, too much mayo.
Fruit salad- Standard, nothing special.
Tomato salad- Nice, good flavor.
Vegetable sandwich- soggy, dripping with mayo, flavorless.
Trifle- Pretty gross, whip cream had started to dry up, not fresh.
Black forest cake- The favorite of the evening, good flavor, fresh.
Lemon tart- Nice marangue, well flavored custard.

All in all, I'd say to go for dessert or maybe coffee, but I wouldn't ever eat there again. Everything was quite overpriced fr what it was.

I have had the unfortunate luck of having to eat at this restaurant maybe 8-9 times, usually with friends or family the wanted to try it out. The Sunday before last was the final straw. We were moving, and stopped to grab a bite to eat. Abagail's was the only place close by that was still serving brunch, so we gave it one last shot. They couldn't screw up too bad on a simple breakfast order right? Apparently they could. Now they've never had the best service around. Usually they're a little overly chatty, and they always seem to screw up our order somehow, but this time was even worse. The server came by and we tried to order, but they were out of the french toast, and apparently they can't make the crab cake and avocado benny on an english muffin anymore. Even if you ask. The server told me to "just order the pancakes, they're better than the french toast anyways". So I did. My husband decided on another benny, and we requested the eggs hard poached. I also ordered their "bowl of seasonal fruit with honey and mint". When we got our order the eggs were soft, the pancakes were crumbly and inedible. The fruit bowl consisted of a ramekin with half an orange, some grapes and NO honey or mint. There was also a piece of pineapple so bruised up I couldn't eat it, and this tiny portion was 5$. We would have complained but the server was nowhere to be found. We did get a haphazard yell of "how is it?" from behind the stack of menus two seconds after our food was dropped off. Either way she didn't wait for an answer. After we were finished another girl came by to grab our (uneaten) plates. She didn't bother to ask if everything was okay or if we needed anything wrapped up, she just took them away and dropped off our bill.

My husband and I went here on our first date, so it'll always be a little special for me. The ambiance is great, sometimes there is a line, but it's always worth the wait. The staff is very friendly, and they make the atmosphere a lot of fun. The food (what I've tried of it) is pretty good, but the drinks are what to go for. I don't usually like cocktails, but they have an amazing list with so many fun things to try. I really like the one with matcha and kahlua. They also feature this asian vodka type liquor that goes really well with the drinks they make. Everything on the cocktail menu is also very inexpensive (i think under 5$).

We love this place for takeout or delivery. Everything is very inexpensive (5-8$ for noodle and veg dishes, 8-10$ for meat or chicken, 10-13$ for seafood.) and i kinda think it should be in the 10 dollars or less category, as there's nothing close to 20$. The quality is very good, and so is the value because the portions are so big. My husband loves the sweet and sour chicken, and I love the mixed veg dishes. The service is always polite, and delivery is pretty quick. I probably wouldn't eat in, but the restaurant is clean and tidy.

I love this place! The food is always fresh and tasty, they have great special soups (that are almost always vegan) and friendly staff. The value is pretty good too. My husband and I can come here and both leave full for about 20$. We usually like to get the appy platter (more than enough for 2 for lunch) or sometimes he'll get one of the meat meal platters and I'll pick a veggie one. The restaurant is always clean, which is one of the most important things to me, and the food is always quick and hot.

I've heard so much about this place, (I'm always on the lookout for a new veggie restaurant) from friends. When one of them brought some takeout in for lunch and offered me a few bites, I couldn't resist. The food was amazing! I quickly headed down there after I got off shift to grab dinner. Well, when I got there, the place was very unclean. The kitchen people didn't have their hair pulled back or gloves on their hands. As I stood waiting at the door(for at least 5 or 10 minutes) while the seemingly only server sat at one of the tables and chatted (I actually didn't guess she was working until she came to help me) I saw one kitchen guy drop something, pick it up off the ground, throw it away and go back to chopping food. WITHOUT WASHING HIS HANDS. Needless to say, I didn't stick around. Between the obviously dirty restaurant and the unhygienic kitchen workers, I wasn't about to risk catching anything. (we all know they're famous for that...)

My husband and I went here for dinner before a movie last week. I had the vegetarian roti and a veggie pattie, he had the lamb burger and the wings. He loved his food, as did I. The pattie was big enough for me to have had for supper, and I brought my roti home. I also had the ABC drink, it was nice but still had chunks of ice (it was a blended drink) and you could tell it was made in a cheap blender. The service was polite and attentive, and honestly that's all I ask.

A friend brought us here for dinner a few weeks ago. The menu was a little confusing (they had pictures of tofu dishes, but no tofu anywhere on the menu) and we got little help from the servers, so he ordered for the table. The food was really quite good. We had the seafood fried rice, the peanut noodle, wings, the prawns with avacado, and a miso ramen. We also had drinks and dessert, and another dish or two that I can't remember. The peanut noodles were everyone's favorite, and they came in a soup.

We've given this place plenty of chances, and something always seems to go wrong. The first time they forgot my meal, and almost changed us twice for it. the second time the menu was COMPLETELY different, and nothing looked very good, so we left. The third time (again, different menu!) the food came out burned, and took forever. the fourth time (whadya know, new menu AGAIN) the food took forever again, it was undercooked, and I ordered an oj with soda, and ended up receiving and getting charged for, a glass of orange juice, and one of soda. Did they really think I wanted to drink 2 separate drinks?

I've been here once, for a friends birthday. we were seated by the kitchen, and between the heat of having too many people crammed in too small a space, and the obnoxious kitchen smells and noise, the night wasn't exactly pleasant. Add to that the fact that there isn't a drink under 10$ (it's not like this place is in a nice area like yaletown or kits, this is MAIN street!) and needless to say, we didn't stick around long.

I've been to this one, and the old location, many times over the last 2 years. It's been one of my husbands favorites for 10 times that long. The food is always amazing. We always get the pakaras, dolmahs, aush soup, and a salada. The service is always friendly and fast, and the drinks are really delicious, and they come in larger sizes for sharing. We usually sit in the pillow room, and on fridays (i think) they have bellydancing.

The food and drinks here are incredible! My favorites are the first kiss, the berry good, and the strawberry fields. I love that their smoothies don't have a ton of added sugar like jugo juice, or any of those other shops that basically sell milkshakes and pretend they're healthy! The food is also incredible, and I live the tofu scramble. It's completely vegan and has this delicious, almost cheesy sauce. One of my favorite places for sure!

this restaurant is incredibly middle-of-the-road, with so so service, but that alone makes it incredible by kitsilano standards. (with the exception of bishops, the afghan horseman, and sushi bar) We had the three cheese pizza, the bread salad, and some sort of pasta. Everything was just OK. The pizza was thick, and almost hard to eat. The service was more then a little overbearing, these girls don't know how to upsell without acting like used car salesmen!

I've been here a few times in the past, and used to come here with my husband for the comedy nights. The food has always been terrible, almost everything is greasy and deep fried! not to mention really overpriced and poor quality. There used to be a couple of really friendly girls that worked there over christmas and new years, but they're long gone. On weekends the place is always too loud, with some bad DJ.

We went here for lunch a couple of months ago. Everything started out alright, the place was pretty empty and the decor was interesting. After we were seated the server came by and took our orders (had the veg burger and soup) and dropped off our drinks. Then things stared to go downhill. A couple of ladies came in and sat at the table next to us, with a few younger children, who were completely out of control! The parents didn't even try to keep them close to the table or away from the other customer, and they kept coming over and smashing into our table. One of them even tried to climb undernieth it, my husband had to tell her no, and to go sit down. When we asked our server why they were allowed to behave like this, he told us that the table was the owner (or manager or something) and her friends. ??????? How is that acceptable? The food was good, but we definately won't be back, after seeing how the owner really couldn't care less about the experience their customers have.

I come here about once a week, and it's definately worth the trip (I live in kits). I always get the curry fried noodles with vegetables and tofu. The service is always really quick and attentive, and you can get a whole meal for just a few dollars. Its one of the best deals in the city for sure. The pan fried dumpling and the garlic broccoli are also very good, and the noodles in soup are really nice if you mix in a little vinegar and soy sauce.

We go here once in a while, my husband likes it and always wants to stop in whenever we walk past. the milkshakes are incredible, but everything else is kindof mediocre. The hashbrowns are really good. the room is covered in pictures and there are all sorts of different things on the wall, but it's not the cleanest restaurant I've been in. As for the sharing fee that everyone keeps complaining about, if you really can't afford the 2$ fee, you should probably stay home and eat there. if there are 2 or 4 people sharing something, you're taking up twice as many seats that could be filled with people that are willing to pay for each one.
