Great Shanghai Food
Submitted Saturday, August 15, 2009 - 2:13pm [Dine in]

Shanghai food is among my favourite types of food and so when I saw this place, I knew I had to find out for myself whether it is the TOP Shanghai Restaurant in Vancouver!

Out of the many times I've been to this place, every time, the restaurant was packed! you definitely need to make reservations if you have a group any larger than 2 wanting to eat there at lunch/dinner time.

The food, i gotta say, is very very delicious! And also very authentic to Shanghai cuisine. Their Shanghai little dragon buns is the BEST I've ever had -- even better than the ones I had in Shanghai! I also have tried their fresh sauteed shrimp with vinegar dipping sauce, which was also very delicious. If you're going there for lunch, I recommend you get one of their many hand pulled noodles, they're very delicious.

Service however, is a different story. We asked the server to recommend us a type of noodle and he just said "I don't know, what do you want to eat?" and we said "what's good?" and he just kept not wanting to answer! Also, we were continually treated with the same attitude the whole time we were there. Don't go here expecting good service! This restaurant is one that feels they don't need to treat their customers with any respect since they have so much business already.

However, despite the poor service, this place is definitely worth a try. The food is absolutely delicious and that will have me coming back again.

Never going back

Not only was the food terrible, the menu is overpriced and NOT worth the money you pay! I got their kobe beef meatloaf, and not only was it dry and unfresh, it was 19 bucks! KOBE BEEF IS NOT SUPPOSED TO TASTE LIKE CARDBOARD! The sauce they loaded on top was way too salty, and their steamed veggies were bland.

So i thuoght, okay, maybe i just made a poor choice, so I tried some food from my friends. I tried their pesto chicken pasta, their steak, and another seafood pasta, and all were mediocre. The pesto was way too creamy, the steak did NOT taste like AAA steak (not only was it tough but bland and unseasoned well), and the seafood pasta was just okay, but not worth the price.

It was one of the worst dinners I've had! I AM NEVER GOING BACK TO ANY MILESTONE RESTAURANT AGAIN!

Intro: I live a 10 minute walk away from this little restaurant and ever since they've opened, I've been going there at least once a week. I was so obsessed with this place that at times I went 3-4 times a week.

Service: Service is as good as it gets, especially from an Asian restaurant. There's only one server since the restaurant is pretty small, but one is enough as she's very attentive. I'm pretty picky about my pho, but the waitress gets it right every time. In fact, I go there so much that she's memorized my usual order, so I don't even have to repeat it every time anymore. Other pho places NEVER get my order right, so this is pretty amazing!

Food: The pho is not the best I've tried, but still pretty good. The broth is brown, unlike most pho places which has clearish white broth. I like to believe that the brown broth is a good sign of stewed meat and beef rather than a ton of MSG and salt that clear soups have. Their springrolls and sandwiches are very good. their rice dishes could be better, but I usually order pho over rice in any vietnamese restaurant anyhow.

Value: The prices are very fair. I usually go dine there with one other person and we spend less than $15 every time.

Ambiance: The restaurant is decorated nicely, and is always clean.

Overall: It's a top notch vietnamese restaurant that rates high in all categories, especially service. I highly recommend this restaurant to all noodle soup, pho, and vietnamese cuisine lovers.
