As we live in the West End, we noticed this new bistro a few doors down from the corner of Davie & Denman and decided to check it out. We were looking for someplace to watch the Canucks and have something to eat and drink. A prerequisite was that the sound to the hockey game had to be up, not drowned out by music. Not only was the broadcast sound up, but we could hear it (no music during game).
The place is all about Canadiana, from its ambiance, food, drink, service and especially the friendly staff. The bar seats nine, which is where we positioned ourselves in front of the big flat-screen TV.
Good atmosphere and so was the food which was reasonably priced along with the Tinhorn Creek red and white wine. Did I mention that they sell local micro-brewed beer? Looking to make it a regular place to watch the games.
Since it only seats 44 inside and 10 outside, you better be early on game nights.
Two thumbs up.

This has been our third time there and it just keeps getting better. Best value and taste for middle eastern food. Friendly staff, awesome portions, great tasting. Best westend in their category in a block of 3 other competitors. The 4 star rating was not hard to give in this case and you will not be disappointed. Just opened in fall of 2009 but don't be fooled just because the place does not look busy. Not really setup up to dine in but in the warm months who cares and in the winter in goes well with hockey games.
