not like it used to be

I used to go to Red Robin occasionally years ago and enjoyed the taco salad. Tonight, we took the kids for dinner. The menu doesn't seem to be as good as before. There was a good variety of kids' meals for $4.99. For $8.99 I got a so-so onion soup and a small soggy caesar salad with bread. My husband had a poutine craving, but the french fries were undercooked and lukewarm so he returned them. It also took quite a long time for the food to arrive. RR seems to have gone downhill and we will not be returning.

We meant to go to ABC Restaurant next door, but decided to take the kids for Greek food instead. We sat outside in the beautiful patio, where we learned the owners grew fresh herbs in the garden along with all the pretty plants and flowers. We ordered saganaki, which the server lit up in front of our delighted kids. We also had grilled calamari - the best grilled calamari we've tried - they were so tender and tasty that my 4 & 5 y.o. boys even loved it....they usually would not eat food that would be "yucky" like squid. Our entree was a shared platter for 2 that included whole wheat pita bread, greek salad loaded with fresh feta, 4 spanakopitas, wild salmon souvlaki, lamb souvlaki, rice, roasted potatoes, and ech mech for dessert (all for $36). My husband & I were absolutely stuffed, and had to take home leftovers. We'll definitely return for more dinners here.
