So happy to have an Afghani restaurant in Port Moody!

We have now eaten at Chapandaz twice, and both times have really enjoyed the meal. The first time we tried it on a whim, just to try out a new restaurant in Port Moody and we were not disappointed.
The food at Chapandaz is excellent, with great attention to detail.
The meals are really large. The platter for 2 can easily feed 3 people and we particularly like the vegetarian platter- the eggplant is delicious. The hummus is a traditional middle eastern hummus- smooth and nutty without too much garlic. The salad dressing is also excellent. Our 2 year old daughter loves it.
The restaurant and staff are very accommodating for families- good highchairs, servers and owner engaging with children, food comes very quickly and the variety is child friendly.
The restaurant is decorated very nicely, the lighting is nice and you have a choice of a traditional floor cushion seating or tables.
I would highly recommend this restaurant and it is now one of our favourites.

We went to Narrow Lounge a few months ago.
The food was good, the atmosphere was nice and the wine selection was solid.
What made the experience less for us, was the fact that a drunk customer from the table beside us proceeded to make inappropriate and loud comments towards us, and eat our food.
To make matters worse, the servers did not stop him, even after we had asked him to leave. He pulled up a chair and even had the audacity to spit the food he didn't like onto our table.
After he had left, the server approached us and apologized for this incident, stating they were too uncomfortable to intervene. However they charged us the full amount for our meal.
So, since then, I would not go back.

Most Authentic and Hands down Best Ethiopian Restaurant in Town!

This is my favorite restaurant in Vancouver.
The food is the most flavorfull and delicious African cuisine in town. As well it is the most authentic.
Deresse, the owner and chef provides fantastic service. Ensuring every customer is well fed and well served.
The value is the best in town. 2 people can easily feast for under $20.00 (try to vegetarian combo with an extra miso wat).
It is located in East Vancouver, which is a great neighborhood contrary to what other reviewers have said. The restaurant is small, but clean, with great paintings.
Hands down, best African food in Vancouver, and always a pleasure to support such a wonderful business.

We have tried every sushi place on Main between Broadway and 25th (including Sushiyama), and Nikkyu is by far the best.
The food is served quickly with good attention to detail. The roles are small, but plentiful and not sloppy. Excellent Sashimi, really nice salmon cuts.
The vegetarian combo's are also fantastic, and you have lots to choose from!
Service is good, consistent and quick. Very pleasant staff and chefs always greet diners. Delivery is fast and there has never been a mistake with our order.
Value is great! $20.00 worth of food is way too much for 2 people with healthy appetites!
The restaurant is small, but clean with minimal outdoor seating.
They also use recyclable take out containers (yay!)
Overall, we are lucky to have found this little sushi place and return at least 1x/ week!

Ok sushi, but certainly better spots in the neighborhood

I was introduced to this restaurant by friends who raved about it. Overall it is good sushi, but it doesn't have that sushi flair that restaurants such as Ajashi have.
The food is ok, portions are large but rolls are not sloppy. Service is decent, My biggest problem with this restaurant is their take out options. They will not allow you to take out bento boxes, even if you offer to bring your own tupperware to transport. They also use immense amounts of stirofoam in their take out orders. One combo usually results in 4-5 take out containers.
Ambience: they have recently expanded the restaurant seating so there aren't such long lines to get in anymore.

Tried the Reef for the first time and quite enjoyed it. Food was very good with excellent combination of flavours and good portion sizes. Plantain appetizers were excellent and with excellent jerk mayo dipping sauce.
Although there was only one server working, service was prompt and organized. Everything was served warm and the server was excellent at making menu suggestions and pointing us in the right direction to try Jamaican food.
Ambience: Lighting was adequate and music wasn't too loud. Was a definate fun atmosphere and good Reggae playing.
Overall enjoyed this restaurant and would return

Asa Sushi in Kerrisdale is a great casual little sushi restaurant. The open air, cool and comfortable atmosphere makes for a relaxing meal in a nice ambience. Food is good. Roll pieces are the perfect bite-size and packed full of high quality ingrediants. No artificial crab here! The combos are excellent, and you get a lot of food for your money here. Service was very quick, and I have found that even when busy the service is friendly and fast. A great little restaurant that will keep me coming back for more.

Really enjoyed my quick meal here. We were in a hurry and the staff had no problem in accomidating this. Peanut Sauce Tofu Salad was warm and amazing! The nachos were huge! With a brilliant home made salsa. Decor was funky and unique. Would definately dine here again.

Your average steak house/ pub fare at decent prices

Restaurant was very busy and we didn't have a reservation so we were seated in the pub section with dinner menu's. Waitress was very slow to take our drink order, took other tables who were seated after us first. After taking our order she did promptly bring it to the table and when we realized one glass of wine had gone bad she quickly replaced it with wine from a new bottle no questions asked.
Food was decent, pub food fair. The Lobster sauce on chicken was nice, although rich. We split a main dinner which was more then enough food for two people. We also shared the calamari for appi'. It was ok, your usual fried calamari. The dijon salad was also ok, but mainly a bunch of largely cut tomatoes on boxed lettuce.
Ambience, the decor was tasteful and quiet. We had a nice window seat which was great for quiet conversation.

Highly enjoyed my dinner at Chambar.
Food was wonderful. Their Foie Gras was truly authentic with a raspberry compote for a bit of "zing". Asparagus Truffle Salad was soft and delicious. Lamb Tagine was excellent, especially loved the delicate fig pieces in the cous cous. The Halibut was also nice. A large and fine wine selection also.
Ambience was nice. Decor is gorgeus, paintings and the loft stye is nice. Only complaint was that the tables were inches apart making it difficult to have an intimate dinner.
Service was prompt and excellent. High class!
For a nice dinner this restaurant is a definate, for a romantic evening, I might look somewhere with a bit more division between tables.

Food Ok, Service was the worst I have ever experienced!
Submitted Tuesday, August 8, 2006 - 3:15pm [Dine in]
Due to the overwhelmingly poor service, overall this restaurant receives a poor rating from me.
Food was ok, fairly decent sushi but nothing exceptionally special.
Service was very poor. Took 2 hours to get our food, order was mixed up, child not served a cup of miso soup for 45 minutes. Server left half way through the drink orders and did not return. Bartender had to be found to complete drink orders. Never once asked if we wanted drink refills. When our dinner finally did arrive the combo was short more then 1 roll. Waitress never once offered explanation as to why service was so slow. Had to inquire multiple times as to where our food was. Server also expressed displeasure at being asked to split the bill for us.
Ambience: Although known to be funky, the music was blasting so loudly that we couldn't hear eachother over the table. It went from Funk to Flunk in my books. The music caused the waitress to have a difficult time hearing our orders and the continual techno dance music pounding during dinner made us want to eat and run.
I would not dine here again.
