Sun Star Restaurant2154 Austin Avenue, Coquitlam
New & Improved
Submitted Wednesday, November 13, 2013 - 9:11am [Dine in]

Although the new owners of the old Austin Heights diner got off to a shaky start, things are much improved and they are working hard to provide great food at a reasonable price. We have dined here a few times since they opened and I must say the food has gotten better each time. New waitresses have been hired and service is much quicker. The portions have increased to substantial and arrive at the table piping hot, we ordered the Combo for 4 and it was very good, really enjoyed the Ginger Beef. The restaurant is clean and fresh, compared to when it was the "Diner". We are looking forward to trying some new dishes that are on the menu, I recommend giving this place a chance, as it keeps getting better.

Meridian Arms Pub3261 Coast Meridian Rd, Port Coquitlam
Working Mans Pub
Submitted Tuesday, October 18, 2011 - 10:13am [Dine in]

We were looking for somewhere to use an Entertainment book coupon,Glad we chose the Arms. We both had the steak special and it was really great, cooked to perfection and a nice cut of meat. Excellent value for 11 bucks.couldn't use the coupon but the food, drinks & value was so good we didn't mind. The fish & chips that went to the next table looked awesome. The Arms has been renovated since our last visit a few years ago, and we found it a big improvement, our waitress was friendly and service was great! Could pass on the smokers milling about the front of the building and this Pub is definitely geared towards an older hardworking crowd. All in all it was an enjoyable experience and great for people watching!

Lunch problem solved!
Submitted Monday, June 27, 2011 - 10:27am [Dine in]

Great sandwiches and hot lunches for reasonable dollars. I usually have the Zeus wrap, or Hercules Platter. The sandwiches are enormous, and this place is always busy during the lunch rush. Very flavorful chicken, and the owner and staff are always friendly. Lots to choose from on the menu, and made the way you want it. Good selection of beverages and deli items as well.

Minoas Greek Taverna3823 Kingsway, Burnaby
Awesome Greek Food
Submitted Monday, June 27, 2011 - 10:14am [Dine in]

This is my favorite Restaurant for Greek, Minoas has authentic dishes with great flavor! The Tzatziki is the best I have had. A group of us go for lunch often, and never have a problem when asking for substitutions. The owners are friendly and welcoming. I usually have the souvlaki, which is always tender and delicious. the portions are good and the prices are reasonable. The homemade Almond cookies should not be missed. I really like the house and the way it is decorated, with plenty of room for a quiet table for two, or a large party. A great place to enjoy good times.

Good Pizza!
Submitted Friday, June 24, 2011 - 11:09am [Take-out]

This is where we go for our Pizza when ordering take out, The ingredients are always fresh, and the toppings are generous, with real cheese. The three for one party special is a great value, especially when everyone likes something different! The lasagna has great flavour. We usually pick up, and our order is always hot and ready. The staff is very friendly on the phone and in person. Way better than the local pizza chains, and definitely less expensive!

John B. Neighbourhood Pub, The1000 Austin Ave., Coquitlam
so disappointing
Submitted Friday, May 14, 2010 - 10:36pm [Dine in]

We have been been going to the John B for over 25 years, ususally every week or so, we have noticed an extreme drop in service over the past few months, tonight was the worst, and when we complained to bar management, saying how disappointed we were, the manager sneered and said "so?" we left. totally unimpressed with what used to be a good neighbourhood pub. will definitey be telling ALL our friends not to bother going here, and looking for a new establishment to spend our hard earned dollars in.
