Tips on top of service charge!
Submitted Friday, February 4, 2011 - 5:22pm [Dine in]

I agree with the posting below as food are very mediocre and they charged insane prices. I had a drink and an salad and it came to $20. They printed all our bills in one long bill so I didn't get a chance to look at the bill. I handed my credit card over to the server and she did not mention that the service charge was included so i added tips to my total. My friends also added tips to their totals not knowing our bills had already been service charged 15%.

I don't think I would ever return to The Charles Bar as food are not good and way too over priced for its quality.

Terrible!
Submitted Tuesday, October 14, 2008 - 12:43pm [Dine in]

I went here for my friends bday dinner a while ago and will NEVER go back again. We ordered our food and some of them never came. We asked the server a few times where our missing order were and she said it was coming. When last call came around, we asked her again, and was told it was coming. So another 5-10 mins passed, we asked her again and she seemed angry and told us that the kitchen was CLOSED. We told her that we had placed that order when we first arrived and she told us again that the kitchen was CLOSED. We asked to speak to the manager and she came back and asked us what we ordered.
As for the sashimis, they would just give us what they want. The quantity we got was never what we ordered. Some of them never came.

disappointing late night
Submitted Tuesday, October 14, 2008 - 12:21pm [Dine in]

I've been here a few times for their deluxe dinner ayce and i loved it. Even though it was a bit expensive (comes to $30 (tax and tips included)), i enjoyed their amazing sashimi selection and fast service.

So i decided to try their late night ayce. We made reservations at 9:30, arrived at 9:20 and there was a huge line up for late night ayce already. Then at 9:30, we were seated according to our arrival.

As we looked at the menu, we were quite disappointed that the sushi selection was quite limited. It only had tuna/salmon sushi for nigiris and a few rolls. They don't even have cones ! =( Their hot food selection was limited too. We ordered chicken karrage 3x and it didn't even come. Their chicken on a stick was kinda gross, it tasted like it had gone bad. The only thing me and my friends enjoy was the deep fried scollops, sprimp balls and udons. The tuna/salmon sushi were paper thin. Our bill came to $16 per a person, which i thought was a bit pricy compare to other ayce with more sushi/hot food selection.

After our dinner, we all went home and enjoyed our time in the washroom. lol

Their late night ayce was quite a disappointment for me. I strongly recommend going to their deluxe dinner ayce but DO NOT go to their late night.

Great deal for lunch!
Submitted Wednesday, October 8, 2008 - 2:43pm [Dine in]

Oysi is the best place for lunch because they have a great lunch menu. There are alot of combos for less than $10.

I usually get the Oysi combo for $8.95 which includes prawn/yam tempura, sashimi, BIG plate of beef teriyaki, rice and miso soup.

Even though they are very busy during lunch, the food always comes fast and the service is excellent.

Highly recommended!!!

nothing special
Submitted Wednesday, October 8, 2008 - 2:21pm [Dine in]

I went to Kamei last week because I was curving for their special rolls. I was greeted at the door and quickly seated to a seat at the sushi bar counter. I ordered the samuari roll and a spicy tuna sashimi. I was pretty pleased when my server gave me a free miso soup after placing my order. As i was sitting at my seat, I watched the sushi chef prepare sashimi dishes including my spicy tuna sashimi. It was then placed on the counter, which no busser/server picked up for at least 15 minutes. I waited 30 mins until my samuari roll came and then was notified that my spicy tuna sashimi was "coming". My spicy tuna sashimi wasn't spicy at all. Instead, it was mixed with gomae sauce. I found it pretty expensive for a few small pieces for $7.95. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you don't mind waiting half an hour for your food.
