The restaurant is cute, the owner and waiter I had the last two times I was there were amazing! very attentive and genuine.
I would like to say however, that the open mic on Sundays is the worst I have seen in the city. There are 2 hosts that are in control of the evening and order of talent that gets to perform. The night is a mixture of spoken word and music. It appears as though there are talented musicians that attempt to play there (ones that i have seen perform at other venues around the city) but if they get a chance to play it is quite a bit later in the evening. This leaves a lot of people disapointed with their visit to the restaurant and quite likely drives business away. The host basically puts up his friends first and not to insult anyone, the majority of talent I saw was less than mediocre , and hard to sit through. The nine people I was with agree. The male host does not have any professionalism, and should not be running an open mic. I believe that the restaurant does not pay him to coordinate the open mics which is probably why they have settled with him. I would like to recommend to the owner to find someone else to volunteer their time. The restaurant is quite small and with the current way the open mic is organized there is a very small chance of turnover. Since the menu is very reasonable in price, I don't imagine them making very much, and if they were to have someone put up stronger talent and in the order they arrive, I am positive it would result in happier customers( which will then be enjoying themselves and buying more rather than waiting to get out of there) and more seetings throughout the night. I was thoroughly disapointed with the attitude of the male host and will never return on a sunday evening again. I would definitley come back on a live music night, since the performer I saw recently was wonderful and entertaining.
It's disapointing that sush a wonderful venue has such an awful oen mic night. The potential is so high, but unfortunately with the current host it won't have a chance.
I will be telling all musicians and artist I know to stay away from the open mic on sundays and hope they revamp it sometime soon.
