Disappointing

We were looking for a good moderately priced Indian restaurant. The meal, for three people was $77 including tip. We found the moderate part, but will continue our search for some place good.

We started with vegetable pakora, then had lamb rogan josh, butter chicken, paneer saag and nann. We found the portions of meat very small, with too much sauce, which was rather thin. Although the flavors were good, they weren’t anything special. The paneer saag seemed like it had cooked way too long and the texture was like baby food.

For dessert, we had rice pudding, mango ice cream and chai. The chai was actually the star of the meal – the spicing was delicate and fragrant.

We went looking for a new Dim Sum restaurant looking for dim sum - our old favorite has gone downhill (Sun Si Wah). We tried Kirin based on the online reviews. Everything we had was excellent. The congee was particularly wonderful. The waiter suggested a salt pepper fish which was probalby the best we've had. It was done with small whole fish, so came with the bones - everyone raved about it.

My daughter was disappointed that there were no carts; everything is ordered off the menu, but we had no lack of variety and everything came out hot and perfectly prepared. The service was wonderful. This is an upscale restaurant and is reflected in the prices, so know you'll pay more to eat there. We will definitely return.

We tried this restaurant based on reviews. Despite the questionable look from the outside (next a check cashing store), the interior is very nice. The place, including the rest room, is very clean. We went for dosas, which were fabulous! Two people ate till we were stuffed for $24, including tip. You just can't beat the price!

Perhaps it is not fancy, but the food is authentic and really good. A nice find.
