New Cook makes the difference
Submitted Monday, June 11, 2012 - 12:37am [Dine in]

Love the new cook at the Cheese. Our family has been going here for the last 10yrs and the changes that happened in the last 4 months have been welcomed! It's always been a good solid no frills English Pub but the food did go downhill for a little while but with the new cook, yummmmers!

We look forward to trying out the specials on the board. I love the Lamb Burger with it's own homemade bun. Really tasty!

The Bison Stampede Burger, which was a special one nite, was a real hit, really juicy and the fried egg on top was what absolutely drove it over the top for me.

The dessert menu has definitely been spiced up. The Chocolate truffle cake was lovely, not sickening sweet and the cake was dry either, yummmers!

My daughter really enjoys the new fish and chip(well we substitue chips with cooked veggies - she liked the yellow beets!

It still has a lot of the good ol British Pub food, I still like my chicken pot pie(now called Charter pie) and bangers and mash!

Great simple Cantonese style food
Submitted Tuesday, October 3, 2006 - 8:43pm [Dine in]

I love this place and realize that some people wouldn't like. If you don't like the typical noisy Cantonese style restaurants, this not the place for you. The congee here is really good, even my fussy mother gave the congee a thumb up and that's hard to come by from her. The snow pea dish, when available, is always prepared in that simple Cantonese style of flash cooking with hot oil and salt/sesame oild/ginger for seasoning(yummy) the Deep fried spicy tofu is very good here too.

I love ordering shredded pork congee and adding on a raw or preserved egg at the bottom of my congee(yummy).

My cousin on the other hand doesn't like this place, it's too noisym the food is average, and service is rude so she's not invited anymore for our fabulous lunches/dinners there.

Great teas, and iffy service
Submitted Tuesday, October 3, 2006 - 8:27pm [Dine in]

I like good service and appreciate it very much but slow and disinterested service, is not somthing I suffer easily. I belive if you have to deal with the public you either like it or learn that you really hate it.

I love having tea here but I hate the service. It is slow and quite often none existent. Always dirty dishes sitting around with nowhere for even for customers to move out of the way other than to other tables. Chairs are very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. I just wish the service was there to match.

what happened?
Submitted Friday, September 1, 2006 - 3:06am [Dine in]

I have been going to Oysi Oysi on and off for the past 3 yrs. I went with my cousin to Oysi Oysi last night. Initially please to see they have revamped their menu since I was last there 6 months ago. Started off decent enough, seated quickly, order taken efficiently enough and then it started going down. We got our Salmon and Tuna boat quickly but there were the odd fish scales in the salmon and tuna sashimi, thought it was very odd and then my cousin's Katsu don seemed to be stuck in nowhereville especially since my main dinner came but not hers. They kept sounding surprised that she didn't have her dinner yet but the worse was when we started to look around and couldn't figure out where ALL the waiter staff had kept disappearing to. Maybe they know something is wrong as the table behind me pounced on the first waiter that they could talk to and demanded to know what happened to 2 of their parities main dinner. NOT a good sign if another table is noticing this as well.

Let's be honest nothing pisses off people quicker than bad service and unwillingness to rectify the bad service. They wouldn't reduce the cost of my cousin's dinner even though we had to wait an additional 45mins. before her dinner showed up after mine was served and we asked for the MIA meal 4 times.

They only offered us free ice cream. My cousin didn't want to fuss and asked me not to.

Not going back to Oysi Oysi, don't care to even if they fire everyone.
